Let's discuss the Monarchy

I don't think it will be. It'll modernise as best it can, but i won't be abolished. King Billy will have a lot of work to do to make it relatable to the younger generations, but he'll have *ahem* some youth on his side. It's not like it'll be another 70+ year old taking the throne.

Willy could be in his late 60s if he becomes king, if Chas lives to the age of his ma or pa.

A bit ironic, don't you think?

I'm against the monarchy, but I wouldn't call anyone names for supporting it. We just disagree. I hope it won't be around forever, but I recognise it's still there for the time being.

Edit: just noticed your avatar. Seems pretty likely you'd be a monarchist if you were in the Navy.
Nah - your a loser. Just like the suffragettes were losers. And the abolitionists were losers.
I’ve never known anyone as opinionated who has spent a decent amount of time in the military so I doubt he has served that much time.

The current “King” has had sight of loads of regulation before any MP and has successfully lobbied to change them to his benefit - see leasehold law as an example. Nobody else has that right.
The whole hierarchy is embodied in him which ultimately results in people like Zahawi believing he is better than you and therefore why should he be even questioned by people “lesser” than him.
If people want to defer to a king then they are welcome to - they can pay for him but he is the same in the law as everybody else.
If we had a President as Head of State wouldn't that amount to a very similar thing .

I'd rather not have a monarchy tbh - but as its obvious I'm in a minority- not much point getting too excersised by it

Like I say bigger fish / lower hanging fruit to fry / pick

It's f***ing sad by any standards that we seem to have this need to be subservient to any other human being.
But you don't have to be subserviant or inferior to be a Royalist.
I'm not subserviant to anyone, but I am Royalist because I happen to think they generate a damn site more income to the country than they cost us. And I actually like the Pomp and ceremony and traditions around it.

Pretty much how I see it too
I like that it makes us different from most and a lot of other countries like our Royal family and the traditions they bring. They bring in a lot of tourism to the country which is a great benefit. Obviously some of them are a bit mental but which family doesn't have a few nut jobs.
I do not see how liking or not liking them brings such animosity from some.

But you are by accepting that you are a subject of the King rather than the citizen in a republic.

Would you feel honoured to meet the King?
