#LetGirlsPlay

Girls have played in leagues at youth level for years at least 20 years I know of
People are looking for a conspiracy that doesn't exist. There might be the odd school that doesn't offer it, I wonder if the parents have asked for it? I wonder if any of the girls want it?

It's widely available throughout the country and has been for decades.

I wonder if people are as outraged if their school doesn't offer cricket for example? I'm sure you can pull stats saying 60% of schools don't teach cricket in P.E. That isn't a conspiracy, it's because there is little demand for it.

Just asked my 13yr old daughter. Does play football in PE but the quality is v poor. She plays up a year girls football for the school. And has been asked to play for the boys school team. She also plays for an RTC and a top boys team. So I'm not sure how girls "can't play"!
Read the thread. Plenty of other parents saying at their school it's not an option for girls to play. I'm surprised so many are struggling with this tbh.

To keep it really simple though... Just because girls can play football in PE at some schools, it doesn't mean they can at others.
The stats have been posted about how many schools don’t offer it.
People can't be this numb surely. @HarrogateMackem must have been lying when he said girls couldnt play football at his school for example.

If you'd brought the demand argument to the table when first commenting you'd have had a point. It may well be a factor. It was the case at our school. You didn't though Muxy, you just ignored the stats showing numerous schools don't even provide the option and said they do. Fair play though, I do enjoy a wind up

You whed and oldie seem to know the score. 😎

The lasses could play at our school, but chose not to. They always played hockey or netball.

In juniors they'd with just play that daft game where they clap hands together, skip, or stand behind the goal and shreek as the ball blasted off them.
In juniors most just wanted to hold mock weddings and pretend to be horses whilst we played footie. They were always welcome to play.

Can only assume you’ve been on a windup as surely you’re not that stupid. Maybe you are, I don’t know  A perfect example of cognitive dissonance as said earlier.

There is no girls football League offered at Primary in this area.

We basically play one trophy a year, one or two sets of 3/4 fixtures (the Jill Scott Cup) for years 5/6.

Hopefully today inspires more lasses to kick a ball. Because this country has some great lasses.

It def needs highlighting if some schools don't give girls the option to play football. It's def not all though, my daughters played for the school / tean / in PE consistently from a young age so I think schools up north may be more open to it than southern equivalient

We've talked a lot about lasses football during this tournament and she's been fairly damming on the quality of most the teams. She's of the opinion the impact of this win ( and the last few years growth ) will see better players coming through. I mentioned this at work and was immediately at risk of hr meeting :lol:
