I mean the actual statistics have been posted on the thread, and people are still saying it’s not true because one lass they know used to kick a ball around.

Majority of lasses when I was at school had no interest whatsoever in football they loved playing netball, volleyball and tennis though. The lads didn't even get to play football in PE as much as they wanted we had to do stints of rugby, athletics and basketball. Nothing standing in the way of lasses going to play football if that's what they want to do.I mean the actual statistics have been posted on the thread, and people are still saying it’s not true because one lass they know used to kick a ball around.
Except all the schools that don’t allow them to, aye?Majority of lasses when I was at school had no interest whatsoever in football they loved playing netball, volleyball and tennis though. Nothing standing in the way of lasses going to play football if that's what they want to do.
No-one mate. It's been decided that they have exactly the same opportunities as lads do. Canny obvious really when you think about it.Who is stopping girls from playing at the moment?
All the schools that don’t offer it as a PE sport, perhaps?Who is stopping girls from playing at the moment?
When did you leave school?Majority of lasses when I was at school had no interest whatsoever in football they loved playing netball, volleyball and tennis though. Unbelievable isn’t itI mean the actual statistics have been posted on the thread, and people are still saying it’s not true because one lass they know used to kick a ball around.
Apart from the facts and figures posted to the contrary, you are spot on marra. So girls can play football with equal opportunity then?
So why create the illusion that they can't? Poor and divisive and has already taken in a few on this thread.
When boys netball (I'm assuming your male) grows as big as girls football has I'd imagine then it would become a talking point as this has started to be.Girls and often more developed physically at Primary school age so no real surprise.
A very good point. I had no netball opportunities either. This fact is often ignored.
If the majority prefer netball and hockey, do you sacrifice one of those, or time playing those for football? All the schools that don’t offer it as a PE sport, perhaps?
When I was young, primary school boys and girls generally did the same PE, including football, hockey, and rugby etc, and had a mixed football team. There are plenty of schools that do offer football for girls but I'll tell you about the school I work at and the area around it.
I ran a girls football club after school last year. We went to play in a tournament in the borough and around 20 schools turned up. I then took the boys to the same tournament the next week. We were one of 4 days with 20 teams. Every school would have been asked for both.
We organised a football tournament between our federation for the boys. 8 schools asked , 8 schools came. I offered to do the same for the girls teams. Everyone said they don't have a girls team.
This is primary school at age 9/10/11.
The simple fact is, there are lots of places where they don't get the same opportunity. I am sure it is better than 20 years ago but it has a long way to go.
You keep ignoring the fact that numerous schools don't allow it. There's even a post by a teacher confirming it mux lad.So girls can play football with equal opportunity then?

Like I said in the post majority of girls didn't want to play football, tbh forgot about hockey as one lads just mentioned girls loved playing that and netball. If enough girls were interested I'm sure they'd have put things on after school etc but they weren't. Majority also weren't interested in at as a spectator sport either. All the schools that don’t offer it as a PE sport, perhaps?
What about the sports that boys want to play, but don't get offered? How do you know which sports kids like until they've tried all of them? Do you think the "tiny minority" who want to play rugby is less "tiny" in Welsh or Lancashire schools, maybe? If the majority prefer netball and hockey, do you sacrifice one of those, or time playing those for football?
What about the tiny minority that want to play rugby? Do you start making lasses play that?
What about cricket?
How od you know they didn't? Yup. I presumed lasses could play as they could, but chose not to at ours. Since then many on here have said they couldn't at their school. A teacher has also confirmed it.I mean the actual statistics have been posted on the thread, and people are still saying it’s not true because one lass they know used to kick a ball around.
Exactly the point. At school we were segregated which applied to both sexes and both males and females are victims of this. My school didn't really do cricket or rugby either. I had one PE lesson of each. I've actually only bowled one ball with a proper cricket ball on a pitch and bowled the lad out. I'm unbeaten with the bat as well. I might have been a great player but I'll never know. When boys netball (I'm assuming your male) grows as big as girls football has I'd imagine then it would become a talking point as this has started to be.
On that though I remember at our school we were told we did basketball instead of netball, as it was deemed more appropriate for boys than netball. Which in this day and age doesn't fly
He must be lying then? When I was young, primary school boys and girls generally did the same PE, including football, hockey, and rugby etc, and had a mixed football team.

Loads of lasses play footie around here what's the gripe even about?
