Leeds vs Villa

Exactly this. All the villa players stopped. It was shit crack.
"Sporting Behaviour" Might work if players stopped diving, feining injury, (note Bamfords shocking pretence at being hit in the face yesterday) trying to con the ref etc etc.
If the players decide when to stop play yesterday's fiasco results. Football is played by 22 players often seeking to gain advantage by cheating. Leave it to the ref, play to the whistle.

I am pretty sure there is now a written rule that says is up to the ref to stop play...so it should be pretty clear now

The Referee:

...

Injuries

  • allows play to continue until the ball is out of play if a player is only slightly injured
  • stops play if a player is seriously injured and ensures that the player is removed from the field of play.

I meant an unwritten rule between players.

Villa are dicks for putting the ball out on purpose when its the ref that decides play is stopped.

Play to the whistle. Stop trying to be "sporting", and let the ref do his job.

Unfortunately refs regularly get things wrong.

Did you watch the full game mate?

Minutes before Villa had put the ball out to allow a Leeds player receive treatment as he was injured. The Villa lad that went down ended up going off injured. He wasn't feigning injury.

You're wrong imo. It was unsporting.

Nothing wrong with what Leeds did. The rules were changed that the game only needs to stop for a head injury which this wasnt. Just because Villa put the ball out doesnt mean Leeds have to and Leeds had no obligation to do the same. What was Mings doing gripping the player for that long. Bamford on the other hand should be banned for conning the ref but the Villa players and staff were a joke.

Tyrone Mings is proper micey like. When he's not stamping on people he's throwing his weight about.

I'd love him here.

Nothing wrong? I can just imagine the meltdown on here if it happened to SAFC.

Think of the scenario: Sunderland v Leeds with Sunderland on the attack. A Leeds player is down and they’re screaming for the ball to be put out. Sunderland oblige.

5 minutes later and the roles are reversed. Leeds slow down, shape to put the ball out and then play a through ball, picking up pace again.

No problem for the SMB though as there’s nothing in the Rules that prescribe play to be stopped. Sunderland lose 1-0 but nobody has any complaints because they were beaten fairly and squarely.

We'd be absolutely raging.

Again though within the laws of the game Leeds did nothing wrong. Its up to the ref to stop the game (it wasnt a head injury or a foul so he didnt) not the players. No point talking about it from a fans point of view as its meaningless.

But you have now changed your claim from “doing nothing wrong “ to “doing nothing wrong within the laws of the game “.

The 2 are completely different and as ALL players override the rules by deciding when play gets stopped, Leeds did plenty wrong.
