There are just as many risks involved in appointing Neil, Keane had an advantage in that he has history with the club and fans. This is Neil's biggest job even though he's "taken a step down to league one". He should be privileged to be here. I don't think he knew 38k had attended against Doncaster until he was informed in his first interview, he looked surprised/shocked.
That makes sense. I would add in though that 'going back' rarely works like Keegan going back to Newcastle. I am far from convinced that Keane would have worked out but we'll never know. We'll have to hope Neil works. I do put some store on what fans of previous clubs say and, unlike Johnson fans of Hamilton/Norwich/PNE generally seem to be really positive.

I was listening to 5 Live before the game and they said ge has to serve a 4 match touchline ban wherever he rocks up to next. I wonder if that also played a part in his dismissal?

He’s another one who could make our eyebrows curl if he ever spilled the beans, I’m talking about Moyes. He’s never said a word about it. None of them do.
LJ should buck the trend and have a few pints and tell,us what we don’t know but deserve to know.
I think you could see from LJ's statement that he likes to control the narrative. He said thanks to everyone and then listed how great he was. He's very good at self promotion.

He owes our owners no favours, maybe he’ll feed a few tit bits here and there. I reckon if we knew what he knew we’d go mental.

Yes, it was very very good. He’s no fool.

Maybe having to play players chosen for him who he didn’t want added to that.

I'd ask him a simple question 'Lee, why do your teams always have good runs followed by bad runs. Its happened at Barnsley/Bristol/Sunderland. Why?'
He may well say: it's called random variation, it happens at every other football club, sports club and area of life; try tossing a coin 46 times and see what happens.

I think Keane would have been a massive appointment for a League One club, I'm surprised anyone would disagree with that tbh.
Massive short term but he's only interested in himself.
Been away from club football for 10 years and even then it didn't end well.

He had the final say on every transfer. That was made public and confirmed by Streaky himself .
Btw - he is a fool.

If he knew the answer if would be half way to solving it. I suspect wherever he goes it will continue. AN learnt more in 2 days than LJ did in a year.

Do you believe that ? Can we believe anything these days ?

I’d love to go for a pint with him. Imagine what he could tell us about our club ?
I’d even buy his beer.
Best thing about going out for a beer with him, is you could ask him a question about attacking tactics, nip to the chippy, get it down you, go back in the pub, he'd be still gannin on and would never have noticed.

I'd hate it. Whatever his merits as manager of Sunderland I found him pretty much impossible to listen to.

Reid, Smith, O'Neill and McCarrhy for me - not sure I could match Big Sam pint for pint on the wine
