Lee congerton is the most important signing we've made for years.

Disagree strongly.......we are where we are because we "tried something new"........it's been an unmitigated disaster and all we are doing is putting another layer between what the manager wants and what the manager gets.
Not a fan of the whole DoF model, but I hope it works out and this time with Poyet already being in charge and being aware of what would be happening. Hiring an unknown agent to buy cheap players from Europe was never going to work though

Could you not have had a word with Ellis before he appointed him then....................tbf there were very few on here who thought it was anything other than a masterstroke by Short and the many dubious buys we were making were merely unpolished diamonds.

I wish

Im sure Cabral just needed more of a chance ;)

Disagree 100% we need a player who us our best signing for years not a DoF

I guess we should still be using balls with laces in them and jumpers for goal posts

I did wonder about that.

Maybe he is going to be in charge of setting up cricket, tennis and beach volleyball teams too?

Or ... Is he being tasked with ensuring we win the fair play trophy?

It just means he sits with the other directors saying stuff like "Oh, give him a chance" and "fair's fair".

How many times have we heard this now? Unless there's money to spend how it will all end is a foregone conclusion. You get what you pay for on almost every occasion. It'll all end in tears, as we are the borrowers of the English Premier League and keep on wanting the cheap option.

Mind there are a few more interesting names in the Bundesliga list, which is presumably where Congertons strengths are.

FFS man......

We've had a team full of Irishmen, we've done the West Indies, Ghana and had a stab at Korea...........may as well complete the set and go German. Does this mean we all get to wear lederhosen, silly little trilbies and drink in the newly renamed Wheatsheaf Bierkeller.

This is a bit of an old-fashioned view. Can you say, in all honesty, that we wouldn't have been in this position anyway if Bruce / PDC / Poyet had been in charge of all signings? Our manager / head coach should be spending his time on getting the best out of the team he's got, not looking around at players he doesn't have. I would prefer someone who has a proven track record of identifying quality players, and who can dedicate his time / energy to ensuring they're right for this team.

Let's hope this lad can find some decent players. Looks like the ones he signed for hamburg are doing mint mind.
