perry, we remember differently. Ball was an automatic pick. I agree it was a choice of Rae or Clark but Ball was always first on the teamsheet. I think your comment re Ball not helping the balance of the midfield is a bit of an understatement. He was a stop gap midfielder at best. Oo Bally Bally. Oo Bally Bally.

No he wasnt

I am nothing if not consistent. Didn't care much for him in his latter years here but as I predicted would happen with the passing of time some players turn into something they were so clearly not. And this has happened with Bally. Get stuck in Bally, oo bally bally...hurrah, he's just upended another player...how we cheered cos that's what the great and the good Sunderland folk want from their footballers. Irrespective of his enormous lack of footballing ability.

Did Ball chuck a ball of your head at Roker or something because we all know he was a limited footballer but he's Sunderland through and through and earned his status as a living legend for us in my opinion. Why try to tarnish his reputation?

because not everyone thinks he's a living legend. You do, that's fine. But I don't. He was a joke footballer by the end. He deserves credit for his love of Sunderland but so do we all. For a long time though in the latter stages he was part of the problem. Games passed him by. He didn't get involved enough. He hid. Just because a few years have passed doesn't change a thing for me. Like Reid, he should have gone a lot earlier because all his good work for the club, and yes, he did a lot of good stuff, was undone by staying too long. The view that he is a deity by many is fair enough - that's up to them to think that. But there are plenty of people knocking around who groaned when his name was read out, and to this day, they remember the frustration seeing such a limited player picked week in week out and achieving cult status because he got stuck in.

Really? You are the only one who slates him. Literally the only one

yes and we all know that this board is a true representation of Sunderland football supporters.

You wont find any sunderland anywhere slating bally. Wanker.

Are you based in London Ernie? Just out of interest like. Nearly all your threads are about getting tickets/sorting travel for London away games.

Ah, reverting to type. That's better.
I'm not sure you are strictly correct in your assertion. My father, my uncle john and uncle Paul all hold the same view as me. So that's four of us. My best mate Dave thinks the same, as do all but one of the lads I regularly go to games with. So that's around 12 people and I haven't even started a poll at the SSOL.
Ha! What have you got to say to that [cue another delightful putdown eg fuck off you mag twat]!!!!

Yep, south east London, Wearsider. There's quite a lot of us down here.
