Works hard but passing ability is lacking have never doubted his leadership and motivation but as getting older need to look to the future he never used to get outmuscled but does not dominate as before.Time for O'Nien ?

Cos of his past reputation of being a bit of a thug. Nothing more. He has moved on but the officials haven't. Quite plain and simple, really.

That’s just plain biased bullshit spouted by some of our supporters, in reality he is a league one player now and pretty much a nobody outside our club.

He made a bad foul on their centre forward yesterday and did not get booked.

It’s only some of our fans think he is booked on reputation when in reality he is just treated the same as any other player and it is certainly not a trophy to book him!

We'll have to agree to disagree. Some of our supporters can't see beyond the end of their noses!

The problem with playing Cattermole and Leadbitter yesterday became more and more apparent the longer the game went on. Undoubtedly our shape was disrupted when Power got injured but the lack of forward movement and drive from central midfield was glaring.

We created absolutely nothing (Morgan and Honeyman were equally culpable) but near the end of the game at times it looked like Catts was moving in slow motion.

Think we will, as some of our supporters think the whole world is against them, we never get nought, reading on here every game we get the rough end of the stick, and best of all after years and years of big clubs getting decisions against us.

Our players are picked on

The year we become the big club refs suddenly change tact and are determining not to be intimidated by the big club!

Harsh but fair. There was one moment (second half) when the ball landed into space in midfield maybe 15 - 20 yards from him or any other player. At first he should have been favourite to get there. Then it looked like a 50/50. In the end he got nowhere near, it looked like he pulled out, but whether he just couldn't or wouldn't, who knows but that made no difference.

He brings nothing to the team whatsoever and sucks a great deal out of it, by having to accommodate him and his wages and his lack of movement and his shit passing. If he turns in a performance like that, in League One, on what should have been a game made for him, there is just no point.

Our midfield is desperate - for next season I'd be looking at Leadbitter and Robson as two who might be capable of playing in a promotion winning squad, the others (Cattermole, Power, Honeyman, McGeough) have nothing to add at all IMO.
Cattermole is a busted flush. That he looked so poor yesterday shows that his ability is sub league one

He was poor but probably our best outfield player in the semis to get us there. In our best 3 outfield players throughout the season. His wages make him a massive problem but there’s little we can do about that.
He played exactly the same in the first half of the Pompey home game marra. He only has one workable role these days - sitting in front of the defence and not moving too far. Sadly for him Leadbitter is far better at the one touch tight space stuff so should - and usually does - get that slot. Sadly for us Catts has instead spent most of this season pretending he’s still remotely mobile. I’m sick of the sight of him as one of the furthest forward midfielders. He simply can’t move well enough to take back his position - and the simple truth is that he’s not talented enough to get away with being in those areas anyway.

Everything we’ve seen of him tells us he’s nowhere near being one of the best midfielders in league one. He’s washed these days. Having seen the effect he has on our play over a whole season (and taking into account what we’ve already got and what we need) I’d be moving him on based on team fit alone. That’s before we remember that he’s by far the best paid player in the league. If we could get someone to split his wage 50:50 we should do it. £20k per week would get you three better central midfielders if spent wisely.

Disagree with most of that. Cattermole was always going to be our player this season and almost certainly will next. We aren’t going to get someone to part with 20 k per week wages particularly if he is as poor as you reckon. He is here and he does have qualities and with careful recruitment we should have built a side with pace and power instead of buying umpteen other players sharing the same lack of pace. Arguing who is the better him or Grant just emphasises how terrible our recruitment policy is when you are in division 1 and you already have one slow experienced centre mid player who you ain’t getting rid of and you buy another. Either player would be perfectly fine in this league in a team with pace and power alongside them but choosing to have them both is beyond stupid. Next year we will have Cattermole whether or not you have the same opinion will depend upon whether we improve our recruitment policy
