Lee Barry Cattermole

Can only assume you left at half time today and / or have a rigid anti-Cattermole stance.

Today was the full Cattermole package. First half he was at his worst; sloppy passing, slow out of the blocks, slow in thought, looked like he was going to get carded any second. Second half he was at his best; excellent passing, great tenacity and hassling and driving the team on (before reverting to first half brain fart Cattermole on the full time whistle).

A very mixed afternoon but better to start poorly and finish strongly when the game is tight.
Aye, at the final whistle, I had the same thought: 'vintage Catts, 'cept he hasn't got himself booked.....oh, now, what's this? I see he's got that sorted now, too.'

Didn't see the game but saw the last one when catts was being passed around in the middle of the park..he does work really hard I give you that but the bloke is a liability....loses his man..ball watches and one out of every two passes is either behind the man or nowhere near...

He has started 13 games this season I believe. We have 15 points from those.

The games he hasn't started we have 0 points.

I'm not a big stats man but they tell a story. To call him a 'liability' is quite clearly utter nonsense

Just simply not true. We are poor with him but without him we are garbage. There's no urgency or desire to press the ball when he isn't playing. It's not a coincidence that we pick up the vast majority of our points when he plays. This liability myth is as ridiculous as the he can't pass myth. 3 yellow cards is all he has got this season. Not bad for a defensive midfielder in January. Hardly a liability

Yeah, I agree, partially. But most of the getting run around/wayward passing happened first half. Second half, he covered well, intimidated, and had a couple of Pirloesque throughballs. So he can be a liability, he can also win games, and he always looks about to be booked.

What was the last match?

Ernie has been on a one man mission to tell people how poor Cattermole is. Has been going on for years.

I get that people don't rate him. I understand that he isn't people's cup of tea. But when they come out and say stuff like 'he's a liability' and 'his passing is shite' when it's so blindingly obvious that it isn't the case it shows people up to be completely short sighted

only 4 bookings this season.

Funny that..Our most vital player who has been in the side for god knows how many years battling relegation. ..one of the crew that got Di canio sacked..shouts at a ball boy cos clearly the poor lad was responsible for us losing on Wednesday. ..
But he gets stuck in which for most on this board means more than being a decent footballer...hence the love in with Kevin Ball....

If he is a liability then there isnt a word yet coined for Rodwell

I'd give him the break as he deserves it and is probs flagging ..

However he's the only midfielder we have who can put his foot on the ball so I can understand why the manager wants him in
Absolutely. No chance I'd be resting him for a league game. Arsenal in the cup presents a good chance to give him a break.
