League 1 2020/21

we have failed miserably the last two seasons. First season our arses dropped, this season was probably the weakest league 1 in some years yet we failed to impress.

Next season could have several strong teams and we will be weaker than ever.

Blackpool spending money and are going for it. Posh and Doncaster plus maybe a couple of “big” teams coming down in Boro, Hull, Stoke, Huddersfield...

Things looking grim.

I’m not expecting promotion next year. I don’t think we’re strong enough in the positions we won’t strengthen. Centre midfield, both full backs and goalkeeper. We’ve got too many average league 1 players at the club and not many have much upside.

I think it’ll be a lot weaker as a lot of clubs will just be happy to exist.
Most players in this league earn money from running down contracts and moving on free transfers. I reckon quite a few them are going to have to accept pay cutswhen moving. As always it's about how smart your recruitment is. That's been our downfall for years.

I’m just hoping Gooch makes steps forward and can carry the team. When he was crap/not playing we were crap under Parkinson. Think we only beat Southend when Gooch didn’t play

We’ve lost the deadweight of Ross and have a man of strategic genius and raw charisma in the hot seat now.

Will we succeed? Well as usual we will have to put up with the typical corruption aimed at destroying SAFC and the socialist policy we stand for.

However, in Parky we have our ace in the hole, our white wizard, our Caeser. A man blessed with all the advantages of the truly great. If a man of his ability can not break the chains, perhaps no one can

Peterborough, Doncaster, Ipswich will all be in and around the top 6 I'd expect next season. Portsmouth would be a strong contender. Not sure Oxford, Fleetwood or Wycombe could repeat this season though.

Then from the teams coming down, Luton and Barnsley i reckon would bounce straight back up. Wigan are a basket case, so they'd be no threat. Then Hull, Boro, Stoke all decent sized clubs who are skint. Huddersfield I think would walk L1 if they came down.

so how couldn't they finish the season then?
Thinking more about teams that come down. Plus there’s the possibility of Pompey plus there’s Posh and Blackpool who are in a strong position it sounds

It’s impossible to say how it’ll turn out at this stage. Clubs will have next to nothing to pay players - if anything, this pandemic will just widen the financial gap between leagues.

It’s a terrible time to be a midtable L1 club like. We need a miracle next season and to be promoted.

After being repeatedly kicked in the nuts for God knows how long it's difficult to be positive, but I'll reserve judgement until the window is shut and the squad finalised.

i think the likes of boro and stoke would be more like ipswich. would rather they came down than luton and barnsley

Several well backed teams that are much better off than we are.
This. As weak as last/this season was I reckon we’ll see a bigger gulf next year. There’ll be a half dozen teams who will include those who’ve just came down fighting for promotion. There’ll be another 8-9 who will be fighting to exist, never mind avoid relegation. Then there’ll e the rest, us included floating somewhere around the middle. Thought of it is grim.

The three that come down will immediately be in the frame to come up. Im worried that a Play Off place is what we might end up having to fight for.

Imagine knowing that you deliberately killed a football club to try and double your money but ultimately failing in your endeavour and ending up looking like a complete idiot hopelessly out of your depth and hated by so many.

The worst part of all this is that I honestly think we may struggle to stay in the division. Our squad is pathetic, our players are unfit and crap, our manager is clueless and the owners don’t care

Just like 2016/17, just like 2017/18
