Ultimately deemed gay as he was a middle class lad with an education.....ive played at a low level , the lads in the changing room were utter show ponies, i shag this, i did that....utter wankers.

I remember Pep Guardiola being described on the radio by a renowned Spanish sports commentator as being a dangerous individual - his sin? Reading books - and even - according to some particularly henious rumour - poetry!!!!

 Funny like.

As was the Le Saux thing.

I couldn't give a fuck what the SMB think. I think Robbie Fowlers funny. Sticking his arse out, the coke thing, he'll have done more but can't think at the minute. When he told the ref it wasn't a pen against arsenal is another. Cracking player and seems a decent bloke up for a laugh...
If I grab my dick and waggle it at your girlfriend is that funny?[DOUBLEPOST=1389310336][/DOUBLEPOST]
No but at the time there was rumours that le saux was gay and he done it to wind him up. In them days homophobia wasn't as accepted as it is now and rightly or wrongly at that moment in time it was funny what fowler done. People need to fuckin stop being so precious man. I'm not some dispicable gay hater just cause I find that funny. To compare it with doing monkey impressions to Desailly is fuckin ludicrous...

Presuming the bit in bold is a typo.

You little cretin.

It is identical. What you are doing in the one instance is slagging somebody off because of how they naturally are and on the other hand you're slagging them off because of how they naturally are.

At the time it was ok to burn witches because they were channeling evil spirits, does that make it ok now?[DOUBLEPOST=1389310442][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not sure if this would be true...

I think an opponent winding somebody like Le Saux up, does it because they know it winds them up. It's like sledging in cricket. But to call an openly gay person gay? Why would that bother them?[DOUBLEPOST=1389279701][/DOUBLEPOST]
Because you're building on hundreds of years of stereotypes and law to imply that it is a bad thing.

Like somebody's hair colour, or race, or arm length.

its all a bit sad really isnt it. grown men ffs.

a little bit of a laugh: aye. but tormenting a nice quiet bloke and fellow professional for years is pathetic. every workplace has banter back and forth, but you'd like to think if it went too far with a certain individual who obviously wasnt the character to stand up and fight (which theres nowt wrong with and he didnt have to react) you would have thought a senior, older head would have got involved and sorted it out.

embarrasing from all perspectives, regardless of the context. exactly the same as school yard bullying. 'everyone gang up and take the piss out of the weakest member'.. even people on here think its funny. its not, its sad as fuck. in my opinion only a complete idiot finds this type of thing amusing.

Interesting stuff from Mr Ince, the man who blames every criticism he ever got on him being black.

He obviously thought it okay to be homophobic.

I assume Fowler and Savage will be investigated by the BBC? If they had been racist rather than homophobic they certainly would be.
Yup. Certainly what came to my mind too.

Shows how far behind the game is on this kind of stuff. These claims are years old and never made a mark at all.

Met him in Idols once, he was with Gazza and someone else who I cant remember.[DOUBLEPOST=1389278291][/DOUBLEPOST]

But at the time everyone seemed to think it was hilarious.
EDIT: Sneech quoted a pic of Fowler showing his arse to Le Saux.

This, this and this. Different era. Judging someone now on things they did then is ridiculous.

Someone put a pic of Windsor Davies (Sgt Major, Ain't half hot mum) the other day. It was funny at the time (70's) but obv not acceptable now.

You're the 3rd person to have abused me verbally in this thread purely cause i found something funny over 10years ago. Are you seriously saying you were as appalled then ? You're as bad as the players...

Don't know why people are dwelling on something that happened a while ago.
These type of taunts will never happen again in English football.
Digging up the past probably does more harm then good.
Also not sure why so many people seem desperate for gay footballers to come out either. The press are the worst offenders. In one sentence they will harass and label people homophobes and in the next they will break their necks to tell you exclusively that such and such is gay. Who cares?
I think most professional sportsmen want to be known for their sporting achievements not for being a gay sportsmen.
Mention the name Justin Fashanu and most will instantly think he was "that gay footballer" not the first black player to command a £1 million transfer fee.
