It's funny coz he's not gay. He's an overly sensitive bore. Surely a few of you can relate.

if you were called faggot, excluded from work circles, then by friends it would break you.....if he had been gay he could have laughed it off, no straight bloke wants to be known as gay from everyone ...and that means you.

He was just a boring arsehole though. The fact that every team he played for, nobody liked him says a lot.

How on earth such pathetic class-room bullying gets into a professional sports team is really beyond me. Fuckin hate it me. If that happened to me, I would probably take an axe to my team-mates or something. See how gay I am then. Fuckers.

I think the whole point here is that le Saux got that sort of stick despite NOT being gay. He just didn't fall into the laddish stereotype. You can only imagine the stick a player who did come out as gay would suffer. That more than anything explains why a footballer would wait until he'd retired before declaring himself to be gay, or as is more likely, choose not to "out" himself at all.

It probably would have been if it had stopped after half an hour. To keep it going did years was absolutely ridiculous.

Typical footballers though. It must have been difficult relating to someone who wasn't thick as fuck.[DOUBLEPOST=1389296459][/DOUBLEPOST]
The article was from 2007

So what?

This type of behaviour goes on in everyday workplaces.

I'm sick of being called a mackem poof!

If the first player to come out was a top player and full of confidence - like Beckham, Messi, Ronaldo or someone - they'd be even more of a huge megastar. The problem is if he was bang average, the type who gets stick all match - that would destroy him.

They're all still kids in footy.

Playground mentality means no room for anyone aspiring to intellect.

It's not that different today, except that now they'll get 'detention' if they take the piss in the same way as Le Saux.

Incidentally, I was watching that game in a predominantly Thai bar on Koh Phan Gan and the locals thought it was absolutely hilarious. But their attitude to gay people is somewhat different again....

I kna some gay hard men ya kna they hard to learn how be tough I wouldn't mess with them

I had worked with someone who played semi-pro football in the 80s and he had a voice similar to Alan Ball's and whilst not gay he was certainly quite feminine. His boss told him early on if he got taunted to use it back against the taunters. So for instance if someone was shielding the ball out, he would say "Do you think it's safe to turn your arse on me.?" He said that he was quite successful at getting other players carded.

Definitely should have got all T-Bag from Prison Break on their asses. He would have caused chaos at matches. Instead he was outraged, arriving at training waving The Guardian about giving it "How very dare you!". As a professional footballer on the opposite team, there is no way you would not take advantage of such a blatant chink in his armour.
