No but at the time there was rumours that le saux was gay and he done it to wind him up. In them days homophobia wasn't as accepted as it is now and rightly or wrongly at that moment in time it was funny what fowler done. People need to fuckin stop being so precious man. I'm not some dispicable gay hater just cause I find that funny. To compare it with doing monkey impressions to Desailly is fuckin ludicrous...

No it isn't. It's humiliating somebody because of something they have no choice about. If it had just been that isolated incident I might agree with you, but that was just topping off years of abuse. This is the sort of thing that leads people to kill themselves, and then everyone is shocked, saying "it was just a bit of fun."

Not sure if this would be true...

I think an opponent winding somebody like Le Saux up, does it because they know it winds them up. It's like sledging in cricket. But to call an openly gay person gay? Why would that bother them?[DOUBLEPOST=1389279701][/DOUBLEPOST]

I've never really liked him, and he could have handled the Ince situation better.

Youre missing the point mate which is had a player been open about his sexuality the amount of abuse he would have got would have been enormous compared to what Le Saux got,the volume would have been the problem not the fact hes been called gay when he is...........that's why none of them came out then and even now when we are supposedly a deal more liberal in our attitudes they still bar a very occasional one don't either.................

Why do you say that? He made some points and the only criticism I have of that artcile is that he is even more verbose than Fishpaste ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1389279385][/DOUBLEPOST]
Why?

I think he's making the situation worse by taking such offence at the accusations of being gay. I get that it can get irritating after a while, but really why did it upset him so much?

Aye that.

I still haven't finished reading the fucker mind.

He makes a good point about Fowler to be fair to him.

If you worked with a group of lads day in day out and had to put up with it you would find it upsetting...........then when it starts to follow you around at games when your wife is in the crowd and youre getting verbal abuse from complete strangers left right and centre..........

Its not something you can just shrug off and ignore.............

I was fuming when Brighton fans were chanting you straight bastard! I shall never go there again[DOUBLEPOST=1389280250][/DOUBLEPOST]

Anyone's who's been seriously bullied will know this. I used to get it at school for being mixed race, and you eventually come to the conclusion that everyone hates you, since they know what they're doing upsets you and yet do it anyway. Usually the kids doing it mean no harm and are amazed if someone calls them a bully, but that doesn't take away the amount of harm it can do to the individual concerned.

You said that Fowler sticking his arse out at Le Saux was funny. Would it have been funny if he'd done a monkey dance in front of Desailly?

I say him because he was in the Chelsea team at the same time, feel free to substitute any other black player you like...
hang on has Desailly come out as black since retirement? crafty butcher.

I'm afraid that the way he describes it all in the article makes the accusations seem like the worst thing ever, which in turn makes it seem like being gay would similarly be the worst thing ever. Which to me doesn't help the situation (either his or actual homosexuals).

I understand that it must have been extremely annoying at the time, and along with the bullying in general, upsetting for a young guy. But now he's an adult, with plenty of experience, and he's looking back on it. He should be able to see how idiotic it all was, and how stupid and pathetic those involved were, but instead he seems to have focussed on how terrible the accusations were. That to me is not helpful at all.

Well no, I'm not sure if a gay player would get a load of abuse.

I think the thing is, straight men don't like being called 'puffs'. It's an attack on their masculinity, ego, and whatever else. 'Out' gay men seem happy with their own sexuality, as do the general public, and I don't think abuse would be accepted.

I think with 'abuse' Le Saux got, it was pretty much accepted because people actually knew he wasn't gay.

Is it acceptable to be using homosexuality as an insult towards straight men? Probably not, but it's happens, innocently enough, on a daily basis. Thing is, I think there's a difference as well between an insult and a taunt. A lot of it's not meant as a slur.

Interpretation mate.............that not how what I think is an excellent article reads at all.................

To him at the time doubtless the rubbish he was subjected to were the "worst thing ever" and to me that reflects on the cavemen who subjected him to it not on people who are homosexual...............

Your last paragraph is utter garbage. Read it back and have a really good think about it.
