Latimers Whitburn

I don’t actually know but I would think they source plenty from elsewhere. They will have frozen cod and haddock to defrost when there is no fresh. A lot of the shellfish like king prawns and crevettes will be bought in and defrosted- simply because we do not get them in the UK. They will source fresh cod and hdk from Peterhead and Grimsby. Langoustines , crabs and lobsters will be sourced from the local boats.
I know that Doug goes through to North Shields daily.
The local stuff like the Cod, Haddock, Ling, whiting, skate, Coley, Tusk & monk are filleted by him and Peter.

Has some mussels and a tub of crab meat from there the other day. Bloody lovely
I had some recently, it came in a small white styrofoam tub. I don’t know if they do bigger ones but there was not that much in the tub. It was white and brown meat.

That one on sea road has only got the equivalent of a goldfish bowls worth of stock in it whenever I go past.

Lattimers is expensive mind. The tuna & monkfish cost more per kg than fillet steak last time I was in which surprised me as I rarely eat fish.
