Latest boxing crack

I know I’m going down the route of being an armchair psychologist/doctor, but I feel like there’s been some worrying signs. The post-Usyk fight drama, the sluggishness in this fight and the whole getting knocked down then patting his chest, he looks like his mind isn’t wired up to his body
Probably CTE.

For me, Dubois has got his limitations. But when a fighter like him with his Massine punch power is on the march he’s like an unstoppable steam train.

Can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

Just about every fighter has his limitations, mate, it's whether you have enough to get yourself through the top fights.

On last night's evidence, Dubois looked like he has enough and the future is very bright for him.

The question is whether or not Joshua made him look better than he actually is because Joshua doesn't like fighting off the back foot and struggles with it. Time will tell on that.

Two things that are certain are that he has learned to use what is a very good jab to create his opportunities and that mentally he looks a lot stronger and more determined (evidenced in his last two fights also).

'Shame for him that the best fighters in the division are coming to the end of their careers. No use in beating barely world level fighters (unless money is the objective).

His jab really surprised me. Not the fact that he just has a good jab, but it was far, far more effective than I would've ever expected when thrown as a single shot. It was one of the biggest reasons I thought he was going to get walked on to bomb, he hasn't always managed to make it as effective as it should've been. Some stuff he struggled to impose against Hrgovic, he had no issue getting off against AJ.

Now the dust has settled time for reflection.
Just watched the press conference.
Lots of arrogance from Joshua even now.
Hearn stated numerous occasions that he was getting back into the fight but I certainly didn’t see it. One decent punch just before the know out didn’t qualify for a comeback?
Joshua didn’t start terrible. He was put on the back foot from the bell and couldn’t manage him due to his limitations.
Davidson is a lovely fella.
He got Fury in incredible shape however he isn’t a recognised coach. Joshua has swapped and changed due to being found out and appears to think it’s the camp. It’s maybe the limitations that he has?
No one has explained why Joshua came out first. I’m not sure why this was and I thought it was disrespectful.

I have never liked Joshua.
I have always thought he has been really overrated and has lived a double life of the clean cut poster boy when really he is a nasty kid from London.
What I will say he has heart. He IS a warrior and every credit to him continuing in the sport he loves. I would hate to see a rapid decline in him as a finished boxer but can’t see where he goes from here. The line under uysk after the first one. Hearn deserves the criticism for pushing his cash cow maybe?

One thing is for sure the division is changing. The top three hitters will be gone soon and boxing will worse for it. We have been treated to some incredible boxing in our generation. Last night was amazing.
I think going through adversity with Joyce and usyk has really brought him on.

I thought is was crazy putting them both together Joyce v Dubois. Same stable suicide.
What did I know. Get rid of that unbeaten early lay the foundations. Warren master stoke. Would Hearn have done that? .

I thought the criticism of dubois after the Joyce fight was unfair. He had a broken eye socket.
People saying he quit that fight is ridiculous. The bloke could have lost his sight in that eye if he carried on and ended his career. What did Poole want him to do? Risk his health just to prove he had heart?

This is just not true.

You don't work with about half a dozen world level fighters and get as much praise from lads who've been in the gym with you as BD has if you're a blagger.

Think he's done well to shake that fitness coach nonsense that was thrown at him the same way it was at Booth for years. Agree with some of your other points but BD is a very decent coach. Get in the gym with enough towel carriers and genuine fitness dickheads and you'll see why he's worked with who he has in a very short timeframe. Not saying he's Freddie Roach like, but he's a very good young coach.

What he's done with Leigh Wood alone has been very impressive.

I've had lads in for sparring who've sparred in the gym with Davison and they rate him.

He's only young.

Was surprised it ended up being permanent with AJ though. Thought more experience would suit him, but I think the likes of Garcia seen him as just big £

Yeah. Don't rate him as highly as Shane McGuigan or anything, but the boxercise thing is obviously ridiculous.

He seemed to have a spell a couple of years ago where his ego started to go wild with some of the stuff he was coming out with so people are always going to be a bit harsher when judging him compared to other young trainers.
