Went to the Sunderland district meeting in January and they spoke about it. Sounds like a good way of getting lads into cricket whom can't play on a weekend or who don't want to spend all there saturday playing.

Think the games are being played all at one venue??

Sounds like an interesting concept this. Where can I find out more info on this?

Or can someone post on here/DM me the details?

Cheers

When I get more info mate il post on here

Just had this email, looks canny like

Last Man Stands Goes to the Investec Ashes Test Match at Durham International Cricket Ground.

It has been confirmed that LMS North Tyneside and Sunderland have been given permission by the England Wales Cricket Board to give a demonstration of LMS Cricket on the third day of the Investec Ashes Test match to be played at Emirates Durham ICG International Cricket Ground on Sunday August the 11th.

To decide which 4 teams of eight a side are selected we will invite the top two teams in the North Tyneside and Sunderland LMS Leagues as at 12 midnight on 28th July 2013. We are looking to start the leagues in week beginning June 3rd. So to sign up your team go to www.lastmanstands.com , click “Join Us”, click “England”, click either “North Tyneside” or “Sunderland” and enter you team details. We will then be back in touch with your fixtures and a chance for you and your cricket friends to go to the Durham Investec Ashes Test match and actually play on the ground during the lunch beak at the Ashes Test match.

For the new leagues, the cost is £18.75 per player per season for a team of 8 for which you get your team shirts, use of equipment and insurance, and set up on line to manage your games and league. Then it is £6 per player per match for which you get use of the venue, ball, match manager/umpire and all personal and team results up loaded on to the LMS web site.

We are holding two free come try it days on 19th May in North Tyneside and 26th May in Sunderland starting at 2pm. To book your teams place on these days please contact Nick Brown on 07920757897 and or register your team as above.

Nick Brown Director of LMS North Tyneside and Sunderland commented “it’s a great honour for LMS cricketers of the North East to play on the same ground as the England and Australian Test players and we expect a great deal of interest as to which teams will be in those top places in the leagues come the end of July”.

Note to Editors

Last Man Stands is a global 8-a-side amateur Twenty20 Cricket League. Typically, each game is completed in less than 2 hours making it the perfect game to play on midweek evenings or on Sundays. It is quick, exciting, and fast-paced.

Last Man Stands is all about the excitement of Twenty20 cricket with a difference – 20 overs are played, but with 5 balls per over instead of 6, each side consists of 8 players as opposed to the regulation 11, and sides can only be bowled out when all 8 players are dismissed – hence the name, Last Man Stands.

There are 20,000 players and 1,200 teams playing Last Man Stands Cricket in 5 countries and 30 cities around the world. Once a team starts competing, each player will receive a global ranking within 24 hours of the completion of each match. Most excitingly, the newly established Last Man Stands Leagues in the North East will fit into the global structure of the game, meaning that the winners of the local League will then be entered into the North of England Regional Finals, with the subsequent winner progressing into the National Finals which in 2013 will be held at the home of cricket, Lords.
