L.A. advice

Going to Los Angeles for first time with work. (I know. Look at me).
Any advice where to stay oh wise RTG?

Have to be in the LA Convention Centre for a few days. Next to Staples centre.
South of Hollywood and the Dodger Stadium. But It all looks canny big and heard transport is non existent. Ubers i Guess.
Any good neighbourhoods near there?

Will have a few days free, Will take myself out on the lash. Anything else to do.
Venice beach I guess. Not arsed with Hollywood.

Any good experiences?

Loads of different options depends on what you want out of your stay? Beach or city? Or both?

I’m not a fan of LA personally, prefer Orange County.

For car hire, use Turo, you essentially just rent a car off someone. Loads cheaper and you can get better cars. Basically Airbnb but for cars.

Places to visit; Santa Monica, Venice, Redondo, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Griffith Observatory and Long Beach are my favorites.

Traffic is a nightmare at the best of times particularly in downtown LA, rush hours can be mental.

You can get Ubers very easily but the surge can be mental when the traffic is bad.

Cheers.
Want to see the beaches, may look to book a few nights on one of them, but think i'll have to stay a few days up by the Convention Centre. As I dont want to hire a car.

Only way out of the airport is a taxi Im guessing?
Why don't you sit at the island in your kitchen while you think about it

Look at me ppfffttttt
Bet youve got a better kitchen than me. Mines crap.
Genuinely looking for some advice, this is always a good place.

Basically want a cheapish, safe area to go out drinking on my tod

@burchmackem lives there so I'm sure that he could help but I don't think that he checks the board that often.

Cheers, so there are trains!
I didnt know that. Will look at them
Aye plenty of them. I wouldn’t go too far out though.

If you didn’t want a car, you could get an Airbnb in highland park around Figueroa street - walkable to the station.

Good food and a handful of nice bars on that street. Less than ten minutes Uber to downtown too.

I would strongly recommend a car though. Driving is a piece of piss there.

I’d avoid Hollywood it’s f***ing minging.
