Ah those blessed memories of youth. Quality little rag end night out, plenty of rucks, fucks and reet good sups. And a regular gay night that was a laugh if you were with the right crowd. Good times and good memories, ahh and the Blue Monkey, Bentleys, Finos ahhh, lapses in to semi senile delerium...

Very early 80s. Circa Shalamar, Human League, Spandau Ballet etc. Heaven 17(Fascist Groove Thing), Kraftwerk(The Model), Nina Simone(My Baby Just Cares For Me), Gil Scott Heron (The Bottle), Soft Cell(Tainted Love) type era.

Bit of an overlap in tunes there with Heros and Annabels.
I was frequently in Ku from about 1982 till I left England in 1990. Last time I was in there was with Randle Summer of 2005.

In the olden days it had carpet, railings around the dancefloor. The DJ booth was a capsule in the middle of the floor. There was a cocktail bar on the right as you went in and a burger bar at the far end. You could sneak out the back door and snog on the fire escape or out on the stairs by the cloakroom.

Shit music included Friends Again, Number 64, all that shite jangly pop for the cardigan brigade.

Good music included Whole of the Moon, Sex Machine,

early 80s for me....always remember that Blamange track.....drinking bottles of Grolch and Breaker....a lass called Jane...those vile burgers.

Stuff like this always turns out to be shite. Started going about 93-94 and used to love the place as nowhere in Peterlee played the sort of music I was into.

Towards the end though just ended up tired and in need of change, you could guess what song was coming on next and seemed like nothing was ever added to the play list.

Had some memorable nights in there and will keep em in the past.
