I was in full agreement with you until this point. You're so anti-old firm it's f***ing embarrassing. The celtic team that was knocked out of europe is a patch on the team that has been built since. The team in the summer was literally thrown together weeks before the game. You're calling the old firm pathetic without acknowledging the fact that this is the best your country have to offer on the footballing scene. The SPL is pathetic. Not the old firm. If the Old firm were quality you'd be whinging that they're ruining the scottish game by stealing all the good players and buying their leverage above the rest of the league. You bitter bitter man.

In response to the main thread. Boyd just isn't as good as his goals suggest. He wasn't main striker at rangers for a reason. We could do with his goals now but unless you have the correct service, the bloke will be a massive massive let down.

I supported Rangers at every step of their run to the UEFA Cup Final, just like I supported Celtic in 2003. The fact that this is the best Scotland has to offer is no reason to give them a more favourable view. I wish they were better, I wish all the teams in Scotland were better, if they were the national team might be better.

I will continue to support the Old Firm and every scottish team in Europe, like I have always done. I don't hate the Old Firm, I just think they're currently shit and don't like the way they are run. I also hate that they, for years, stole the best players and didnt actually play them.

It's fine if they got on the pitch, Champions League experience would be great for them, but half of them just sat on the bench, when they could have been playing for one of the other SPL teams.

Funny thing is, the real Celtic and Rangers fans I know in the main share similar views to Tartan.
Why are you so blinded by bias?

Every Rangers fan knows this is a terrible team compared to recent years, Walter Smith is an absolute genius to do owt with it.
Every Celtic fan is (and rightly so) embarassed that they have until recent weeks still not managed to be top dog.
IMO this is still quite a poor Celtic team, but can't blame them for getting over enthusiastic about it as they have been awful for the past few years. I think they'd do very well to still be in europe by September- a sentiment echoed by most Celtic fans in the pub on Sunday when the TV did a competition to win tickets to see Celtic play in Europe next season.

The Old Firm are what is wrong with Scottish football. The fact you can go to towns like Kilmarnock, Motherwell or Dundee who all have decent football clubs and yet still see more old firm shirts than either sums this up.
I'm sitting next to a guy from Caithness (google map it) FFS who is a Rangers fan. There must be another 30 scottish league teams who are more local to him yet like thousands of others he has chosen the easy route of supporting a team who's definition of a bad season is winning a cup and finishing 2nd in the league.

Aye, that means he's shit.

He's not shit.
On the other hand he's no where near good enough to ever play for England.
I premiership team will take a punt on him eventually if he keeps playing like this.
He'll most likely fail. Then be back in the SPL or Championship.

neil lennons putting together quite a good celtic team,he inherited tony mowbrays team and thats the reason celtic were knocked out of europe, since then he has brought in some really good players and got us playing some really good stuff.i enjoy going to games again enjoy after watching a nightmare of a team with no bottle that tony mowbray put together.

How many players has he signed though?
He seems to take the Sam Allardyce approach of sign 100 players and 5 will turn out to be good.
It's the law of averages.

Murphy for starters was an absolutely mental signing- his comments on him showed he had barely even seen him play. Big/brave/good in the air etc.

They're certainly a better team than they have been recently. It's still not a great standard though. Samaras FFS!

hes signed some decent players since the start of the season .izzy, juarez, ledley, stokes, hooper, majstorovic, kayal, and the likes of rogue, brown, mulgrew, wilson are all playing good football at the minute.the one bad signing was murphy though but i think celtic fans will forgive neil lennon for that.

Kayal looks a good player as does Izziguerre(sp). Mulgrew, Commons also good signings.

fantastic player, one of the best midfielders we have had at celtic for a while.got a good buy with him.

The Murph put away a couple of crucial penos earlier in the season.

Was watching the Sunderland Everton game in a pub on Byres road and Neil Lennon walked in and stood near us and started watching the game.

Cue all of us saying everytime we missed a shot etc "well at least we don't have Murphy anymore." "Good job Murphy isn't playing we'd be loosing by now."
