he's not really a little turncoat though, not if originally wanted Ireland intially. Better having him than an Englishman with a Scots grandfather.

An Englishman with a Scottish grandfather who wants to play for Scotland because he can't get a game for England has turned his back on no one.

Some hideous little rat who turns his back on the country he was born and raised in but then come back with his tail between his legs when his new country decide they don't want him is a turncoat.

Same as that McGeady, both of them are an utter disgrace.

not suggesting theyve turned their back, but it is not as good as a scottish player. fact! He makes more sense than them.

he's not a 'hideous little rat' though is he? any need? it's not about him only you know. Scotland want him. Nowt wrong with having Ireland as his first choice.

McGeady always wanted to play for Ireland. Good on him for making it.

Barry Bannan, Danny Wilson, James Forrest, James McArthur, Robert Snodgrass off the top of my head. The cream of the crop James McCarthy looks to have chosen Ireland though.

None of them brilliant though! No Dalglish, Hansen,Sousness etc!

How do you know when theyre only young?

they players had a rep over time in their careers. These young'uns are just coming through

McGeady and McCarthy were both born and raised in Scotland.
They chose to represent another country internationally. Scumbags the pair of them.
Same problem with all the plastic paddies out here, if they're so proud to be Irish why have they never left Glasgow?

Good on them

if they want to play for Ireland they can.

BUT REMEMBER, IT'S SCOTLAND THAT ALWAYS SHOW INTEREST IN MCCARTHY. Not as if he is begging to play for them. It's not like that. You think it is. Good on him

the old firm would struggle badly if they ever got into the Premier League. Relegation would happen and they'd slink back off north of the border

They would struggle if they didn't get Sky money but they would be up near the top with Sky dosh. Might not compete on corporate income but they must make a fortune on replica tops.

Theres pictures of Aiden McGeady wearing an Ireland top with his relatives in Donegal when he was a kid.

It was a no brainer that he would go on and play for Ireland if chosen.

scotlands has loads of players not born in the country but still wanted to play for scotland, are they wee rats also.

Could they have played for their country of birth or where they not good enough?

Can't think of any who have turned their back on their own country to play for Scotland. If there are one's who did though they are.

McGeady and McCarthy both did. Sums up the all plastic paddys over here IMO. Almost to a man scum in my experience.

They didnt turn their backs. They made their mind up at such an early age that they wanted to do it. Bullshit!

tell ye what! I think all the people in scotland who show animosity to irish things to be scum to a man- from experience.

Possibly reasons why McGeady and MCCarthy didnt wana play for scotland. They've irish names and irish/celtic players used to get peltered when playing for scotland

good on them!

Like bollocks he'd be the cream of the crop. Barry Bannan holds that title.

We don't need McCarthy, so the plastic paddy can fuck off anyway. Along with goalkeepers, Central midfield is probably our strongest part of the pitch with Bannan, Adam, Fletcher, Thompson, Brown and MCarthur.

We need strikers more than anything else.

Kris Boyd demonstrates nothing really. He was never considered that good in the SPL either. Everyone could see that he was a fat, lazy twat who's only attribute is sticking the ball in the net. Decent to have as an option on the bench, but was never going to be a Championship regular.

such ignorance eh?

someone with an irish name and an irish family, is a 'plastic' paddy :lol:

f***ing stupidity

What a crock of utter f***ing shite. celtic players playing for Scotland do not get f***ing pelters from anyone except Northern Ireland fans. Some of the best players have been Celtic players. That is the single biggest pile of shite I have read in a while. Ask Kris Commons or Scott Brown how welcomed they were into the national team by the fans. Or the likes of Johm Collins and Craig burley in the past.

james McCarhur has practically the same f***ing name as McCarthy, and he's doesn't get pelters. Typical ******* celtic fan...

fuck right off.

I would know. Whereas you are choosing to ignore what it is right. yet i'm talking shite?

rightio son. McCarthy got tortured in domestic games. McCarthur is rangers through and through. I said, Irish named-celtic (pay attention) players, or ones with irish family/heritage referring to mroe recent times, however, ask a fair person, they'll tell ya, in the 50's/60's celtic players used to get booed playing for scotland. But for this case, I am talking about their irish heritage. Though celtic players got peltered yes. Not shite. Truth.
