Mrjardine

Striker
Committed himself to Surrey for season thus turning his back on earning a lot more money playing a full IPL and CPL.
As a side note our ODI captain is playing a FULL IPL and will miss an England ODI game as well as start of county season because of this.
One of these is an international superstar and England's leading run scorer across all formats whilst the other is a run of mill international cricketer.
One will be welcomed back into the England fold with open arms whilst the other seems he will have to pull up every tree in St Johns Wood just to merit a discussion.
Easy quiz this one in which the right answer is unfortunately the wrong answer for English cricket.

Listening to him talk on TMS during the SL/SA game last night changed my opinion on him over the whole saga.

I thought he was just trying to save face, knowing he didn't have a chance of returning for England, and would still have taken the money for the IPL/CPL. However, he mentioned that he would be taking something like a 70% paycut if he went onto the average CC wage. And he stressed he was willing to do that and had already agreed to cancel his IPL contract and was in discussions to buy out his CPL one (they won't cancel and want money or him to play).

Whether he gets a recall or not, he's done this the right way - for once. Wish he was coming to Durham not Surrey like!

I don't particularly want him back in the Test team and don't see him playing in the ODI world cup 2019 but fair play to him for doing it.

Can't understand why he's plucked for Surrey though. It's not a decision for money so why not find a div 1 county. Maybe none of them could afford him.

aye, plus there's been issues in the past where he's wanted to be based in London, for some godforsaken reason.

True so only Middlesex or possibly Sussex. Wouldn't of gone down well Gus stoking the fire as a selector if he'd gone to Middlesex.

And Prior's at Sussex.

Aye, after he wrote a f***ing awful book slagging off our most successful coach, and acting like a total child, while making millions from it

not about money of course no

Fair enough if people want him in the side because of his talent, we will agree to disagree on that one, but he has acted extremely poorly over the last year, and continues to do so.

Totally agree, the standard of Division 2 cricket is really really poor at this minute, thought he might of gone for Somerset, guaranteed runs down there

bored of the whole thing to be honest, he isn't going to play, but good to see him in county cricket I guess

Most won't have an issue with pieterson playing if he rattles off 3 or 4 tons early in the season. Until then though he should be nowhere near the team. Ironic that if he had given a toss last summer he could have had runs behind him and in prime position for a recall already.

There are two types of sane people in this world - people who want KP back in the England test team as soon as possible, and Australians.

With the endorsements in his Adidas (and other) sponsorship contracts, he'll make that back and more if he's in the side to face Australia. Keeps him in the papers as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he scores a bucket of runs.

Key word being if.

Of course, if he doesn't make te squad (also likely), then in the short term he will be down financially.

If anything he should walk if they don't. He's the skipper and is under pressure - surely he should want the best players in the side, therefore increasing the chance of a positive result?

Not if your (arguably) "best player" is a whiny splitarse who would pretty much destroy whatever morale is left.

It'd be piss your pants funny if he averaged like 23

Hope he rams it down the selectors throats and gets to 1000 runs the quickest

That's the gamble he's taking though, fair play to him for backing his own talent. Plus it keeps him in the papers, which is probably the most important thing.

I hope he fails worse than anyone has ever failed before.
