Never scored a test match hundred in South Africa and never scored a test match hundred in Australia outside of the flat wicket at Adelaide. Very comfortable in England where the ball does not bounce as much.

Just a half remembered anecdote, but i think you will find it is correct. Thats 16 tests no hundred.

Kevin Pietersen is one of our greatest players.

How can you even try and debate his merits as a batsman?

What a f***ing shambles. The ECB couldn't have handled all of this worse.

Decent read by dean wilson here

Why are people having a pop at Colly? He was one of the few batsmen to come out of the 2006/7 tour of Aus with any credit.

Aside from the double century, he fell just short of 100 at the Gabba and hit 2 or 3 ODI centuries.

He was a decent batsman on fast wickets.

Had me popcorn out all day.

After a slow start, he hasn't disappointed has he!

We're not. Wayne Entwhistle said KP was crap outside england on fast tracks, saying his centuries at adelaide were meaningless and that cos he failed to score a ton in SA he wasn't as good as certain batsmen.

He said colly was great on fast tracks yet his ton in Aus came at adelaide and he never scored a ton in South africa. It was to prove a moron wrong.

Colly is an absolute legend for England and isn't given the credit that is deserved by the media.

Anyone got access to The Times online .... bumble reckons Atherton has written a good piece (he's a good writer him, can spell long words the lot!) ..... I was wondering if it could be cut and pasted.

Who said it was Colly i have never mentioned Colly. It was down to you not being able to work out who the Durham player was who scored a fantastic hundred at Perth less than 12 months ago.

Apparently there is some document floating about regarding Player conduct on the Ashes tour according to Sky.

If even half of the stuff in there about Pietersen is true, then it's little wonder he was sacked.

Sacked for "cricketing reasons" despite the fact he was our top run scorer in The Ashes.

Aye, wish the ECB had been honest about why they sacked him. The 'cricketing reasons' excuse was absolute guff and everyone knew it.

As pretty much everyone predicted at the time of Pietersen's sacking, nobody involved in the situation has covered themselves in any glory.

The cricketing reasons argument is tosh. Anybody with half a brain cell knows that England are a much better team with KP than without him.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt presuming you weren't stupid enough to put pietersen down by using a bloke with one decent innings in test cricket to his name as good example.

Stokes is not also "one of our own" as he's not a local lad. This smacks of back tracking too.
