Yes it was against a uni side and I'm critical of the standard but first game back for a long time (January 2014) and he goes and whacks 170. Not a bad start

Doesn't matter what he does in some people's eyes.
When he starts scoring championship runs, which he will, they'll just come up with the "it's only division 2" line despite moeen Ali playing most of his cricket at that level.
I'm just looking forward to moores and Whittaker squirming in interviews when getting questioned about him!

Kevin Pietersen launched his bid for an England recall with a sparkling 170 for Surrey against Oxford MCCU.

I still think he has acted the twat, the way he has gone on and on on twitter is boring as fuck. And he hasn't made himself available to play as he has played nothing more than T20 for a year. But if he scores runs in proper cricket, he should play

He has zero class... But a great middle order bat - i'll give you that one.
Remains to be seen if he's needed for England imho, there are plenty areas we are shit but we seem to have a relative embarrasment of riches in terms of middle order batsmen.
Openers, bowlers, management = all areas that need to be improved.

Still can't really see why people think this is a better proof of his form than playing against the best players in the world in high pressure ultra competitive matches, whatever format the game is. I notice 4 or 5 county players have walked off today after scoring tons against the various students, presumably, since there are no dismissal details for them. If these are deemed first class matches I might as well dust off the batting gloves.
I hope you're right but still have my doubts. The current England tactic seems to be "play shit cricket"; and he has a proven track record of not being very good at that.
