Boils my piss when they make statements like this.
"The protection of our copyright, and the investment made by our broadcast partners, is hugely important to the Premier League and the future health of English football.”
The money and the paywalling of football is clearly detrimental to the development of football as a participatory sport in England. All they are protecting is players and agents wages.

I'd have no qualms of putting my hand in my pocket and paying any company to watch Sunderland. Hell I've paid just for the right to listen to them as it stands on our website. If sky were to copy Ifollow and bring out a scheme to watch your club it would be a roaring success. Sadly they don't and therefore I normally have no choice but to PAY sportsmania for that right. Equally I refuse to pay 50 pound a month for a sports package from Sky that shows 5 Sunderland games a season. It seems every country in the world is allowed access to all games apart from the UK - I get they want to keep the stadiums full but they really aren't giving people much choice which is mad considering the quality of product they could deliver to every football fan.
Articles like this are funny. I watched 6 games last weekend. Sky didn't see a penny other than their broadband fee.
