KLD has a lot to think about . . .

Honestly don’t just think it’s a simple sack LJ or keep LJ. Should he choose the former I think he’d have to also get rid of KS . . . A big(ger) name manager won’t come and work with the same DoF, maybe no DoF at all. The likes of Wilder, Keane, Big Sam wouldn’t come under those circumstances. They might not come at all but this is a HUGE moment in the future few months (possibly seasons) of our club.

When almost all players stop being able to pass the ball the issue is a lot more than just the manager. Saying "well he picks the team" has no bearing on that fact either.
The last few years in league 1 have already been rolling huge moments for the future of the club.

If you were working at the club within the stucture, would you look at coaches from Europe or another British name ?
Problem with foreign coaches at this level is that the football is alien to most. You can get it right (like Stendel at Barnsley), but getting someone who can manage against the likes of Steve Evans is tricky.

There’s no way Speakman should or will go, thankfully. He’s done a decent enough job in the one window he’s had with us.

I don’t buy “no one will want to work with a DoF” or words to that effect, either. We’re a massive name still, there’s evidently a better setup under KLD now and imagine being the bloke to get Sunderland back into the Championship let alone up the top of that league.

I’d be willing to let Speakman have a go at picking a manager to work with.
This is one advantage of going for s foreign coach. Having a DoF is second nature to them.

What? we shouldn't mention ambition? Bejezuz
It just invariably leads to people being massively unrealistic with their suggestions. In reality, there is quite a small list of managers people would be happy with that would come here. Unless we went properly left field. People suggesting Wilder or names like that does no one any good, as he is never going to come here.

Aye, if it was 2011. He’s been honking in the last few years and at 72, a short term appointment who keeps saying he’ll retire, who’d almost certainly not work under the setup we put in place a few months ago. Thankfully, it’s a non-starter.
I agree its a non starter as it goes against what the owner and speakman want (longterm)

However i do think he would get us up

I'm not advocating a change as Johnson needs more time, but I thought one of the points of having a head coach rather than a holistic manager was that they were more interchangeable without the likes of Speakmann having to go too and us having to rip things up and start from scratch (again)?

We're building something and it'll take a bit of time. A new owner with a plan, a young side with some good footballers, a technical/sporting director here for the long term as part of that plan, and a head coach who, if necessary, is the most interchangeable part of the setup.
There's no way he'd get rid of speakman. The whole point of this system is that we can get rid of a head coach if they underperform without ripping everything up. You're right that we wouldn't get a big name manager, but we wouldn't be looking for one, we'd be looking for a coach, possibly one we've never heard of but who can better organise and motivate the players we've got here and the ones speakman will bring in during future windows. Doubt he'll go yet but Johnson is in trouble, Speakman will get another few windows regardless imo

Or pretty much this.

Does he? If he was interested he would have sacked Johnson long ago. I haven't heard anything from him in weeks, he is a young lad, I guess the novelty of owning a football club has probably worn off.
