Brentford were in the Championship. Grigg is not at that level. He was excellent for Wigan though and definitely not shite.

The fee aside, he has been woeful for us. I wouldn’t have even minded the stupid fee if he had banged them in for us like he did for Wigan.

I don't think he's ever even moved to the North East. Donald failing even to get the player to agree to such a basic contract term. Grigg maybe isn't the best example but the thrust of my posts are around how utterly useless we are when compared with Brentford, a much 'smaller' club making us look like we've just evolved from the local pond.

The Grigg deal sums up the Donald, Methven and Sartori era perfectly. Claiming the days of idiocy in the transfer market were over whilst being idiots in the transfer market.

Aye. I know you mentioned them but Leicester are the ones for me. Sell Kante, Chilwell, Maguire etc for big money and it never seems to affect them. They buy a random player who seems to work just as well.

Aye their recruitment is unbelievable. Seems no matter who they sell they bring in a quality replacement. Us on the other hand 🙈
We should find out where their scouts are and sit behind them finding out who their watching.
Any chance the EFL could work a bit overtime and get this done, double time on a Sunday 😂
Cant show favouritism

Last night I was looking back over Brentford's business over the past 5 seasons. They've made over £175M from player sales and they will be 2nd top of the Championship if they win their game in hand (they have games in hand on all the others in the top 6). They just missed out on getting to the prem last season. Its very interesting reading about their approach. Scrapped their academy and went massive into data. There owner is off the scale bright though, a physicist from Oxford University, made his money by using statistics to beat the bookies. Their new stadium looks great too.
Any succinct articles you were reading about it? Interested to know more

A few clubs are ditching their academy, which for many clubs do not pay their way in terms of the number of players coming through into their first team squads or good enough to sell on.
Brentford’s philosophy is to basically cherry pick excellent talent from good clubs where they just don’t get the chance they deserve.
Kristian Speakman has already said there’ll be a big emphasis on our academy, so if this is the case the whole place needs wholescale staff changes which means the likes of Dickman should be replaced as he is another SAFC staff member who has been around too long without justifying the length of his time at SAFC.

Could you post the EFL priority list please so we can see where we are in the queue.

Ha! Sorry mate.
owners emailed a friend of his

@MADBOB THE MAKEM 😉
Hahaha!
And in fairness this is a well worn path from the current owners . Very good at cascading info through friends who will then pass it on to the fanbase via social media. I don’t believe anything they brief out
That’s fair enough mate, up to you. I’ve no reason to not believe this but you don’t me from Adam!
So the EFL still need to sign off the Derby & Wigan takeovers too.

They're not the quickest of organisations, are they?
They’re so bad it’s unreal 😂😂

This is from over a year ago so you need to add about £50-60M to the transfer sales they've made, such as Benrahma and Malpay

Agreed, I've mentioned Leicester too on the King Power thread.
