I wouldn't have expected him to have a great deal of knowledge on EFL players either to be fair, the move didn't exactly seem like it had been set up for some time and was just waiting for the takeover to be confirmed.
i would expect any manager coming to a lower league club to have som knowldge of the lagues..and certainly to appoint a staff who do..not bring their scottish assistant with them who may know less than them.

lots of managers talk about how tranfers are run by a wider team includng them..because in this era they always are...scouts drectprs of football etc. work with manageers to sgn players..
i mean not in the little leagues where ross was..but in englan they do..

Indeed but how many come straight out and say that deal was done without me being involved or I have no say, unless they're head coach and it is clear that the DoF is in charge of those things?

dof shouldnt be in charge..but should be a part of it..

Why, if Parkinson went off to manage Dunfermline for example do you expect he has knowledge of the league when there has been no indication he'd be working in that area? His coaches were certainly highly thought of from what I've read/heard. Do many managers from overseas bring in coaches from the country they're working in?

f its lower lague yes..prem it maters less because all the plaers are famous...though wengr kept pat rice, and the chief scout..
ferguon had bran kidd..
roberto mancni ha bran kidd..
steve clarke was assistant to several chelsea managers..

It would appear I’ve touched a nerve. The club said in may or something that we were in a period of exclusivity with someone yet didn’t announce anything until December. Then nothing since. Nothing submitted to the EFL takes this long.
Nothing since you really do know fuck all

The summer after we were relegated from the PL (Reid-wilko-Micmac) season, SAFC were skint due to no 40% wage cuts in contracts. Players were virtually given away. Micmac set up a transfer committee: Him, Evans, Chief Scout and Bally was the word on the street at the time. No player was signed for three transfer windows who hadn’t been seen by three of the committee and given the thumbs up by two of em. It worked.
Worked better than any transfer period in my 50+yrs of SAFC suffering. Players were picked up from Oxford, Mansfield, Wrexham, Gillingham Res, City Res, Dumbarton etc over three transfer windows for next to nowt. They returned a FACup semi final and a play off semi final in the first season then the Championship title in the second.
The committee was abandoned the Championship-PL transition window as that sort of step up was considered too great in favour of a more championship player type model.
The same four fellers following their own rules these last two and a half seasons would have us in and around the championship playoff places reet now IMHO.
Unfortunately Donald knew best.
