Kissing automatic promotion goodbye

I wonder if the Charlton forum are having a melt down because they drew or Barnsleys because they struggled to beat Rochdale .Clubs in this division are competitive ask the supporters of Wolves or West ham their thoughts

Why are so many of our fans, on here at least, the most negative, glass half empty lot around? The same ones that were most vocal about the atmosphere around the club being so bad in recent years and here they are, with a team playing for the shirt and fighting for promotion, slating the new owners, the manager and players and predicting doom.

They had their Meltdown when they let in a late winner at the SOL. I was there to witness it (Charlton Life that is, not SOL).

Not sure what you’ve seen from either of those to suggest they play better football mind. Barnsley in particular were shite up here. We played them off the park, they piled the pressure on after we sat back after going 3-0 up, we then killed the game off with an excellent counter attack. Luton looked dreadful when we actually put pressure on them aswell. Shame we didn’t bother in the 2nd half. When we move the ball quickly on the ground no team has been able to get near us.
Barnsley were not shite up here mind? I honestly don't know where you are getting that from. Yes we won 4-2 but they were excellent at times, the stats backed that up. I remember Jack Ross being very complimentary of them afterwards

Jack is a class act, no point in rubbing it in.

They were “excellent” when we allowed them to be. We were 3-0 up because they couldn’t cope with us. They got back into the game and we woke up and killed them off. The way people go on about their performance baffles me tbh. They played some canny stuff at times but the only time we really struggled to cope with them was when they launched the ball at Moore.

Would another season in league 1 be a compete catastrophe? If we lost in the play off final or example, hopefully win the checkertrade.
Ross has done a very good job in the circumstances and he’s only had one summer transfer window. His squad next season and if the worst happens and we don’t go up I think we’d be in a position to win the league quite comfortably next season, and maybe defend the CT too

I don't know about catastrophe, but it would undeniably be a big failure.

Never thought I would agree with a forumer but I have. But at the same time with Portsmouth, Luton and probably Barnsley gone my hopes are that if we don't go up then the 2019/2020 season will see more weaker teams and us as really the only reasonably top (ish) team in the division. But with clubs like Bolton, Ipswich, Reading and Rothertham most likely to be the Championship teams going down that looks tough.
