Tin Soldier
Striker
They’ll probably be gone before himI'd probably agree, hopefully proves us wrong. From what i have seen of them all be it not a great deal. Diamond and Neil look to have more potential than this lad

Maja signed for Bordeaux when he was 20.....
In his interview with RR he was advised by the club due to covid rules to stay over in Sweden and train there, so don't think he can be blamed for that.He won't develop though. He's decided that his agent should determine his career and hasn't kicked a ball for half a year. Clearly doesnt give a shit about developing or he wouldnt have fucked off and skipped pre-season
Maybe he was told to stay there initially but he wasnt told to go, nor is that still the case:In his interview with RR he was advised by the club due to covid rules to stay over in Sweden and train there, so don't think he can be blamed for that.
We've got nothing to lose by persevering with him in the u23/reserve squad and see if he does develop. There is definitely something very raw there to work with.
And nothing else.He certainly has the one thing our front line is missing. Pace
That could be what happened. Equally well it could easily be the case that he was lowballed by SAFC to ensure they got compensation and was then left stuck in limbo, faced with taking an offer that was below his market valuation (he claimed to have had better offers than SAFCs remember) because the compensation meant other clubs couldn't afford the whole package. I suspect the truth is somewhere in between. He won't develop though. He's decided that his agent should determine his career and hasn't kicked a ball for half a year. That only rings true if it’s other uk clubs that were interested which I suppose could be possible but I’d be surprised. The only compensation that would be due if he moved abroad would be FIFA’s solidarity payments which are negligible. That could be what happened. I don’t believe a single word PP says about focussing on young players with an appetite !!Maybe he was told to stay there initially but he wasnt told to go, nor is that still the case:
Phil Parkinson says Benji Kimpioka is missing out on the chance to force his way into the first-team picture by ignoring his advice to return to Wearside.
Kimpioka's contract expired at the end of June and although Sunderland offered him a new deal, the 20-year-old has so far refused to sign it and has stayed away - insisting as recently as this week that he is still weighing up his options, and saying he has had other offers elsewhere.
Parkinson spoke to the young striker over the summer and told him to sign the deal, return for pre-season, and he would be given a chance to work with the first team, but so far Kimpioka has gone his own way.
"I spent a lot of time speaking to Benji, his agent, and his brother, on Zoom calls over the summer," said Parkinson.
"I explained that he needed to sign his contract, come back, do pre-season with the first-team, and if he was in and around it, great, and if not, we'll line up loan moves for him
"But unfortunately, for whatever reason, it hasn't got to that stage yet and he has missed three weeks of pre-season.
"I said to him 'Benji, I really don't want you - for yourself - to waste a season of your career'.
"At the moment, that's not been resolved. If it is resolved, great but if not then we have a lot of good players here and I want to focus on the ones we've got and the young players who have come back in the group with a great appetite."
Well he's not going to return when he hasn't got a contract. Why would he, I wouldn't if I was weighing up options from elsewhere.Maybe he was told to stay there initially but he wasnt told to go, nor is that still the case:

thisI’d sack him off personally. Seems to be a bit of a wrongun and despite his pace I don’t think he’s much cop.
I'd bet that once you get to these lower levels, the FIFA solidarity payments won't be negligible. It could well equate to 6 months wages - maybe more. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it was big enough to have an impact. That only rings true if it’s other uk clubs that were interested which I suppose could be possible but I’d be surprised. The only compensation that would be due if he moved abroad would be FIFA’s solidarity payments which are negligible.
I just think he’s been given grand ideas by his agent. He’s done absolutely nothing worthy of being in a contract dispute. Not necessarily his fault but he must know he’s wrecking his career for the sake of money.
Given the competition for places (yes, really) in attacking positions and the fact he is 2-3 months behind the main group I'd be amazed if we see him at all this seasonHes wasted his pre season
Dog balloon etc.
Sadly I think the only damage his pace will cause will be if he careers off the pitch and smacks into an expensive advertising hoarding.his pace can do damage in this division plus we have spent a lot of money on his development why should he be allowed to just fuck off...get him back and make him work
