Kids meltdowns

Anyone else going through difficult times with their child? My little girl is 6 and seems to have had personality transplant about 4 weeks ago. Proper off the hook meltdowns over the slightest of things. The sort where you can’t get through to them for 45 minutes. Rage meter at 10! Going to school, meltdown. Mum going to work, meltdown. Hungry, meltdown. Food not right, meltdown…etc

Never had this with her male siblings…people always say girls are harder. Not sure I buy into that mind.

Really frustrating and worrying times.
Modern life with it's automation and labour saving format has caused our Cerebellums to become lazy, and in the absence of it's regulatory functions the Amygdala is free to run wild.

Wall E territory.

Cracking generalization there and a pretty ignorant one. Diagnosing kids with things when they dont need to be? unbelievable
Not at all. I’ve spent more time with social workers, educators, psychologists and various support workers than most people on here. I’ve been on various courses for parents, and read countless assessments and reports. And the bottom line is that most of it has been a complete waste of time. Getting a diagnosis isn’t like getting a broken arm diagnosed from an X-ray. It’s often one person’s opinion, generally someone who’s hardly spent any time with the child. In fact, you could probably get yourself a diagnosis by simply choosing the direct multiple choice answers in some cases.
So I’m not saying that people don’t have conditions - of course they do. I’m saying that it’s a handy excuse for bad behaviour.
Nobody has naughty kids anymore, just like nobody died of old age during covid.

I point and laugh git loudly at the bairn when she has a tantrum. She doesn't know how to react until i'm so annoying that she just asks me to stop. It's just one of the little pleasures I get from parenting. It doesn't always look good mind depending on the location.
More brutal than I was

If she's ND then all normal parenting tactics are likely to fail and make matters worse.

Do what works for her until you get proper help would be my advice and ignore know it alls in the street who think she's just having a tantrum.
Had a good lengthy chat with the doctor today and we’re going to carry on for a few weeks seeing if half term makes a difference and then the return to school. Hoping that it’s a developmental stage but also looking for something that may have caused an anxiety issue.

One things for certain there’s a lot of people who face these type problems and all kids are different in how they display their emotions etc.

Thanks again to everyone who has responded to my OP.

I couldn't agree more.

Smacking is lazy parenting and could have serious long lasting negative consequences.
Anyone still resorting to smacking kids really needs parenting lessons, tbh.

Corporal punishment teaches kids that you can hit people to get them to do as you tell them.
Ah! But this thread is about kids with conditions. What if the condition means the kid has no regard to consequences or punishments, and they’ve worked out that hitting someone gets results? But nobody is hitting them? Gerrin, free rein to bray whoever I choose with no punishments.
I would challenge anyone on here to live with my son when he was younger and watch as none of your techniques work in the slightest.

You've made it quite clear you have a problem with me, so maybe you'll be offended that I've responded to your post, but I have to say that your method is spot on, cannot explain simply why, but stick with this.

ps. All moral compasses align at some point ;)

I can so relate marra.

My girls were angels. My son was very problematic. Never in bother with the law, just behavioural issues.
Was he ever diagnosed with anything? If it's the same son I knew, he was a nice lad but stood out a bit in the social/work environment. Casual all week, then wearing a suit on dress down days was my particular favourite. As I say, canny lad all the same.
ADHD is the medical term for f***ing arsehole.

I thought that was joemcdokes.

Yeah but you don’t get anything, especially sarcasm.

I am a f***ing arsehole as well mind.

The most dangerous statement you can make is "I want my kids to have more than me"

More tat
More leniency
More rights
More sympathy
More free time
More free expression

There's your menu for the end of humanity...I kid you not.

Disagreeing with the ramblings of an idiot is a bit different to not getting it.

You have your view on things that differ strongly from mine, the odd thing is within the threads we have had our debates I didn’t see many backing you up.

Perhaps you can sort your OCD out.
I am far from an idiot but don’t particularly mind you calling me one if it works for you.
