Taylor in particular is very good and I quite like Slater and Healy, but Warne is dreadful. Worst commentator of SKY's main team by far

Mind, Flintoff is absolutely awful too.
 
Wasn't keen on Freddie to start with but he grew on me a little in the midweek game, but I can only imagine what him and Warne must have been like.

To be fair to Flintoff, when they sit him down and review the game he makes some good points, it's his actual match commentary and lad banter that grate on me.

Fair enough. Odd that Stoneman was so prolific in the 50 over stuff, but can't get a gig in the T20. Mind your openers are pretty decent :lol:.

Borthwick was never that great for us with the bat in T20, excellent fielder though and won games with his bowling.

Do you think they've delivered and been value for money up to now?

I think it's that Rockys strike rate is nothing to write home about. Even at Lord's, the 144 was magnificent (and vital), but you couldn't help feel it was a tad too slow, especially when compared to what Hales did!

Regarding value for money - Rocky definitely. Scored a ton in his very first innings for us and hasn't looked back since. Become a bit of a favourite with the few of us who go away games very quickly.

Borthwick - the jury is definitely out. I feel for him a tad because his bowling has become even more vital after Ansari called it quits, but even so... Says it all that with the ball an 18 year old kid is trusted more than he is.
Been very poor with the bat, too. Scored a ton in his first or second game, but done absolutely naff all since. If Virdi keeps progressing, I wouldn't be surprised if he was little more than a bit-part player next season... Good fielder, mind!

I'm inclined to cut Warne slack on the basis that he was such a great player, I loved watching him, hated him playing against us, but loved him as a bowler, competitor and generally his didn't give a fuck attitude. He can grate as a commentator, but like I say I can look past it, up to a point.

He's trying too hard with the banter though, you got the sense at times tonight the others were thinking shut the fuck up you bellend. Needs to chill out a bit, don't think he can though.

Do know what you mean about the Oz commentaries, the few times I've watched Big Bash games it amuses me for a while, then when I start to feel an irritation, I find something else to do.

The trouble with the T20 commentaries is that some people try too hard to be a lad, I've seen this with Flintoff and others on the Big Bash.

But in general and speaking up for Warne he's been pretty good on the Test Match commentary, insightful especially when the spinners are on and good listening.

He is a bit like savage when he does football sounds like an excited little girl warne is a tit make the ball talk funky fields rockstar jadeja etc

I respectfully disagree, have to put mute on when he comes on. Basically makes the same point over and over.

Wouldn't life be boring if everyone agreed with each other ....... and TMS, I couldn't listen to it because of blowers so I have no opinion on Swann - I've never heard him speak. I liked Vaughan a while ago but now he seems to say things purely for the sensational value.

On Sky, Nasser is the best by far, Athers is good, Bumble too, Botham is poor. Rob Key is boring, as is Nick Knight but Holding is class especially like Warne on his own speciality.

In years to come Stokes will be on that list, probably in the Hussein/Athers end of the list.

Some sense in that, what's more, I'm actually beginning to think that Sky's commentary is beginning to take over TMS in the quality stakes :eek:.

TMS are going down a worrying path 'bantz' wise, Swann is f***ing annoying and its started to infect others. Of course Aggers, Boycs, Marks and Mann are absolute national institutions and I like the addition of Norcross. But Swann and Rainford-C*nt can fuck off, when they're not bantering they're talking over deliveries. That should be an instant dismissal in itself. Dagnell and Taylor need to be careful not to get sucked into 'bantz mode' too.

It's often been said that on radio you have to talk more and on telly you can just let things flow - but all of the radio newcomers need to do some research, listen to Benaud and learn to shut the fuck up. It is possible to be an excellent radio man by saying very little.
