Downing was as important as those 3

By the way Sakho and Valencia together yes was important

sadly it was rarely if ever seen once Carroll got fit

He has his favourites and he picks them when fit, regardless of form - zeroquestion whatsoever about that

Also worth pointing out that all 3 of those players were signed by the board and in the case of Sakho, Allardyce did not want him and preferred spending double his fee on Wickham until Sullivan stepped in

If this is true then it is disappointing. He's absolutely finished. One of our major problems in recent years is we aren't quick enough going from defence to attack. Adding Nolan as a squad player isn't going to help that

This would be the worst signing we've ever made. Not only is he shite, but he's an absolute prick. If we want goals we should probably play that lad we've got who's the 11th all time premier league top scorer.

So, has it been confirmed then, did id it happen? Or is this just another 12 page thread where we may as well have been discussing magical fairies and unicorns?

a)not having pace and not being quick enough for the PL are 2 different things FFS

So why talk about quick and fitness? He's not going to have lost mental quickness, it's only going to be in his legs. It's been abundantly clear for sometime he's not quick enough for the PL had you seen him, so what exactly are you trying to question?

b)getting the best out of some players and getting the best out of any old wanker that calls himself a professional footballer are two different thing FFS

We're not talking about any old wanker that calls themselves pro footballers though are we, we're talking about guy who nomatter what you or I think of them on a personal level, have proven themselves to play at the top level. f***ing big difference.

Jesus, you start off talking about form and then finish saying it's not about results, it's style of play. You sound like you have been spoonfed bullshit from the diehard deluded 'westhamway' mob that hated BSA. Guess what, West Ham's stlye of play early last season relied on three players: Song, Sakho and Valencia ("the pace up front and the creativity behind them"). When the 2 up front get injured and their form dips in the games they do play, and the midfielder that screens the back floor and starts every attack seemingly does not give a flying fuck any more, then BSA has to change how the team plays because he does not have the players at his disposal to continue. If you don't believe me then get over to KUMB and look at posts from that time period, paying particular attention to comments on the actual form of Valencia and Sakho in the games they played in the second half of the season and discounting the deluded 'westhamway' wankers that seem to be unable to connect players poor form/injuries with the tactics at BSA's disposal:

Actually I said it wasn't 'just' about form, but there you go. Nice of you to ignore that. I was talking about both form and the way they played and seeing as the way they played had a big part to play in their actual form I felt it warranted mentioning. Such was the change when Nolan and Carroll were introduced again (especially as a pairing) that highlighting the difference in the manner of their play due to the limitations of those two players only further highlighted the point.

I also love the way in talking about the supposed three players that made a difference to the way they were playing/form completely ignored Downing, who was one of the main ones actually getting the accolades. It's as if you want to deviate away from mentioning his fantastic form centrally, which was being called a masterstoke as it somehow detracts from you argument :D :D

Amazing they brought Song back given he fucked them about so much isn't it? You can dicsect it anyway you like and it certainly isn't conclusive from reading KUMB as it wouldn't be from any messageboard. But West Ham's form, style of play took a turn for the worse when Carroll especially was re-introduced, which also saw Nolan playing more frequently and Downing shunted right. You see it wasn't just down to Song screening the back four and getting them moving or Sakho and Valencia, as there pace and strength was still available, but the fluency was ripped from them with the re-itroduction of those players.

So reading this again I've been buying into the West Ham way, believing everything the WHU fans opposed to Allardyce say etc etc (couldn't possibly have seen some of it with my own eyes) and the quite balanced few WHU fans who come on here and who have made some good clearly made out balanced posts regarding Allardyce's time there actually back up most of what I'm saying.

Yet to back up what you say you want me to trawl through a West Ham forum?

I'm sure there's some logic in that somewhere....

Nolan scores injury time winner, chicken dance ensues...

"Never doubted him"

"What a shrewd move by Sam"

Etc etc
You're brave. Making an assumption that we're not losing by that stage in the game.
