Got a lot to do with players not been given the chance to improve in the 1st team because in the prem you can't risk it.
Relagation could help a few youngins get a chance and you have to play them not 1 game every 10. Look at Southampton players like lallana might not have been given a chance if they had never gone down.

At this rate there'll be no one left at the club to blame they'll all be gone.
The Players,Poyet,The Fans,Short,Byrne,Hutchinson,The Tea Lady. Oh and the Ball Boys.

Rubbish mate. Does Southamptons mythical huge catchment area reach to Wales for a 9 year old Gareth Bale or Kingston-upon-Thames (London) for an 8 year old Luke Shaw? The fact is they put great effort and expense in sourcing then more crucially developing the best talent....we can't even scout our local leagues properly??

The 90min travel rule ended with the introduction of the EPPP and even prior to that that were loopholes - Rangers had an satellite academy/development centre in Hartlepool. Leeds had a couple up here too.

The painful truth is that we don't look hard enough, and the talent we stumble upon isn't developed effectively enough to be fit for purpose. But what area of the club are we actually getting right???

We are failing these kids, and we are failing the future of this club.

Not true mate. School football comes before even Academy football in the warped FA scheme of things. If any Academy staff have told you this they want shooting with shit. And he should continue to play when available for his boys club just incase it doesn't work out, thats the guidelines.

All I know is the two kids at NUFC academy are having to leave team at end of the summer season.

Fair enough but if they are being told to leave then I'd be having a word with Joe Joyce as whoever said or suggested that is overstepping the mark.

I'll mention it to bro in law and other coach mate. It does seem unfair on the kids to be taken from their mates. Could be that NUFC academy play on a Saturday though.

Joe is a decent fella to be fair so he'd sort any issue out. At the end of the day it comes down to individual choice mate. If the the academy side hasn't got a game then the kid could go back to his grassroots side and keep that link incase he doesn't make the required standard. Academy football takes precedent over grassroots but they is no rule saying that an Academy player can't be registered and play for his grassroots side.

On a slightly related note the Academies should give a written approach to the clubs before scouting which never happens - if a club complains they just say they spotted him at a school game. They'll bend any rule to suit.

But at the end of the day its the kid thats the most important thing in the equation.

They may not have been ordered to leave but around 10 years of age loads of kids 'disappear' from RFL. I think it's probably more to do with youth fixtures and academy fixtures clashing?

My son is 11 and a year or so ago 2 teams in the RF Premier disbanded as they lost so many kids. Also one of his best mates who plays for Sunderland Academy in the same age group left his team and hasn't played for a youth team since but turns out for the district team as the fixtures don't clash.

Some of the kids have reappeared after being released and some have come back join other teams as long as it doesn't clash with the Academy matches.

Yeah mate they'll undoubtedly be a clash but they don't have to leave is the point I'm making. Kids should stay involved with their grassroots side its not ideal for all parties but players get released all the time and then what!

I agree, it would be great if RFL, the academies and District FA sat down and tried to ensure they didn't clash as much. That way youth teams wouldn't need to worry about losing kids every season depending upon they were picked for the district or an academy.

And whilst I accept they're not 'made' to leave to join an academy, I do know of kids who were encouraged to quit youth teams.

The academy will never be a success until we mirror what is happening in the Premiership, yes you need a mix of big powerful players and more technical players, as someone has already said we released one of the most gifted youngsters I have ever seen because he was too small. David Silva would have been released by this lot, and believe me Im not overstating the problem

the academy will never a be a success when its just a job for "the boys" and they release players like louis lang and continue to hand contracts to their sons.....two players to come through tto the first in what? 10 years? simply not good enough

Agree 100% , i stood next to a SAFC scout a few week ago, he said" he looks good" the biggest 12 year old on the pitch, however he failed to notice the little right winger who scored all 4 goals, when I pointed out his quality I was told "too small"
