Kevin Ball and all Acadamy Staff

No doubt we are all lashing out and looking for a scapegoat or more likely a while herd.

But the Academy is poor in terms of personalities and coaching ability. I know this from firsthand experience and tales from far and wide.

A sense of superiority and nothing to back it up. And not held to task or directed from the Ivory towers.

I pray that King Congerton will change that. We need a soul as we've unsuccessfully try to sell many of ours to the Devil.

Should be on the to do list but its a bloody long list so will probably not receive the attention it deserves.

All the academy staff should of gone with Bruce. Also, get rid of the grass, it encourages big lads to get stuck into little uns and the long ball. Concrete stops tackling, encourages playing on the floor as ball bounces too high otherwise. Ball moves sharper along ground.
Hot countries do not play on grass as youngsters, because unless its a professional club, grass is too hard to maintain.
Get rid of the grass.

Grass out.

I mentioned on another thread about academy. My nephew was there (small for his age, but very technical and cracking left foot). He was let go via letter (not face to face with his Mam or Dad). Anyway few months later they now want him back as he has grown a little. He's now very happy training with Middlesborough & C**tcastle, so has gassed SAFC off. Another lad who plays for same team 9Goalkeeper) was invited to AOL and left waiting with his dad for 45 minutes in reception. Both are massive SAFC fans and he now has joined NUFC and just been invited to the elite squad.

Very worrying if you ask me, the whole place needs to be looked at.

Jesus.

That Attenborough tells when hendug first sod at academy.

Clearly did not plan the trees properly. The size is all wrong.[DOUBLEPOST=1396982933][/DOUBLEPOST]
I am sorry about that, but would assume out of literally hundreds of kids they can't release all of them face to face, below age of say, 16.

How do you know mags and boro don't do the same?

Can't mhave it all ways. Do you want them to be out on the grass coaching to make us best, or spending an entire day telling parents their son is released?

Point taken, maybe the coaches should be sure about things and then wouldn't change their minds few months later.

SAFC absolutely needs the AoL to start producing players to compete for first team places! It should not be a facility for busted flush journeymen and assorted hangers on to steal a living!

Clear the decks and get the best coaches available .The AoL is too valuable to leave in the hands of footballing mediocrities.

I completely agree, but every club makes mistakes. Didn't the mags release Carrick? Arsenal sold Keown and then resigned him to become a club legend and first team regular for high on a decade. These things happen, doesn't mean our academy is 'rotten'. Players get national honours at under 16 level and never even make league football let alone premier league. So hard to tell at that age. Nature of the beast unfortunately.

acadamies will never work - managers jobs rely on results and they will never promote from the youth set as the players will need time to settle in to the 1st team etc. IMO that's why managers always buy established players as they should be able to fit in straight away

Sadly agree. One of the many ways that sky's TV money has ruined football. I wish they had never existed.

Good take on things mate. I like reading things like this, well done, keep it up.

Mentioned this before but my mates 6 year old is at the Academy. He has played at a decent level, was on the books with both us and Newcastle as a youth. He is very impressed with the Sunderland set up. They concentrate on skill and tricks and look at natural ability rather than size. His lad also attends Newcastle one night a week (they don't have to choose until aged 9). He says Sunderland is streets ahead of Newcastle (and he's not a lads fan). While I don't dispute any of the other stories at the younger age group the set up is 1st class and their focus on skill/tricks/technical ability is very, very encouraging. Yes, it will take a long while to pay dividends but it's good to see such solid foundations. He says a number of coaches have come across from Newcastle as it is a much better, more structured set up.

Fully agree mate. You can understand my sister and brother in laws take on it though. Nephew is 8 years old, was in tears when he was released, made friends through there. Think it was very cheeky as being at Boro and Newcastle (I hate saying that) has made him a better player and now SAFC think he will come waltzing back. Hate saying it but with this attitude and lack of foresight, they are going to miss out on some good players.

There's an awful lot of that about unfortunately and not just at Sunderland.
Mostly old boys clubs with hangers on getting jobs they're no good at.
I know of at least one person who is quite high up at the AOL who is useless at their job.

Is that person high up ged Mcnamee??

Worst person for nepotism is Steve Bruce, I think Sunderland is the only club that Fat head had his son at.

Corrupt leeching scum stealing a fortune from the club. C:unts of the highest order. Get rid of them all
