There was an escapee peacock in South hylton a few years ago I was told, always used to turn up in people's gardens beautiful birds.Last year out our front we used to have 5 peacocks which someone down the road owned. The beggars went walkabout all over the local area and I think almost caused a few road accidents when launching themselves accross main roads. It appears that the police had to have a word with the owner to get them penned in before there was a disaster. It was a pity becasue they were a big hit with the locals but I could see the police's point.
I live close to a garden centre and the peacocks, whilst beautiful birds, are a nightmare. There was an escapee peacock in South hylton a few years ago I was told, always used to turn up in people's gardens beautiful birds.
Fatballs all year round, i get Starling's, Blue Tit's, Green Tit's, Coal Tit's, House Sparrow's, Wood Pigeon's, Robin's and a black and white little bird which i think is a wagtail. Then bread for the Seagull's, Crow's, Black Bird's and sometimes get a visit from a small bird of pray
I used to get followed round the garden by a Robin, used to feed him mealworm, funny how they have no fear of us within a short space of time and quickly learn to associate us with foodI live close to a garden centre and the peacocks, whilst beautiful birds, are a nightmare.

They're building a village bypass around me and there's a lot of security fencing gone up in the fields where they lived. I think they've holed up in my garden till they suss it all out. The night-time CCTV shows them coming and going out the front driveway of the house so it's during the daytime they tuck in here. They leave the cars alone though, unlike the foxes who crap wherever they can for max annoyance, usually by the car doors. And it stinks. The beauty of CCTV finds the guilty.Roe in the garden is super impressive, best I had was fox.
