Keep Dodds

Really want him to stay within the coaching setup as the players clearly respond to him but eventually a Championship or L1 club is going to snap him up. Just as long as it isn't Stoke.

Very very impressed with his tactical nouse yesterday, the team set up and discipline was absolutely tremendous. I’m definitely warming to the idea.

Sbragia's first 2 games as caretaker were big wins, he got the job permanently, was absolutely shocking and he looked like he was going to die with the pressure. Robbie Stockdale beat the champions Wolves 3-0 when he was in charge with a bunch of no hopers in the team.

Might be a sticking point on getting in the man we want - if he wants his own people with him, will there still be a role for Dodsy?

He's been the one constant over the last 4 (relatively successful) seasons and 3 head coaches. What does that tell you?

It's self evident that he's a major factor in our philosophy. Making him Head coach would eventually end in tears and him leaving. No one wants that.

Maybe we'll appoint a head coach that'll listen to his suggestions on starting lineup and substitutions....

It can’t be argued against how well Dodds has done these last couple of matches against good sides. The tactics have been spot on, the team selection correct and great use of the bench. Looking at that you have to say it has been a really good fit. I do however look at this Will Stil and he looks like he could be exactly the type of head coach to bring into the club, with Dodds staying on of course as part of that structure. It’s a tough call as Dodds has done so well, but you have to balance that out with who is possibly available to come in and that door could close if we don’t make the move soon. I’m sure if we do bring in a new head coach then Dodds will have a few suitors should he wish to step up into the big seat and he hasn’t done his chances any harm at all. The only worry I have mind with a new head coach coming in is how the players react as it is very clear that Dodds is a hugely popular figure amongst the players and that’s very important too.

If he isn’t given the job, and I don’t think he should be or will be, other clubs will be circling. If he wants a head coach job he will get opportunities but probably not with us yet.

Morning !!!

My opinion is we should keep dodds in charge at least until January see how things go ….

He seems to have the respect of the players and staff etc and the performances show it

2 wins in a row but the bigggest plus for me was last nights performance against a brilliant Leeds team especially the forward line

With the mags coming up we need a manager that can get this group of players playing as though their lives depend on it and he seems to have that quality

If a new manager comes in how will the players react ? He might want to change it around do we that time ?

DODDS IN !!!!!
I really don't get this idea - keep him till January etc. Its not a kids team. He's either got all the attributes to be head coach or he hasn't. As Speakman and Dodds have worked together probably for 10 years or so. So there is no need for an interview. If he is deemed to be the long term solution then give it to him permanently, if not go for people who have a track record and and a reputation that meets our specifications. I thought the days of knee jerk, reactive decisions were in the past. The only reason we could give him a short term go is if our targets refuse to come. Imagine taking someone from outside after 4 games managing.
