The last picture captures a little of what the route will be like and makes sense of Keel Sq 👍🏼 it’s fantastic.
I can’t believe that the council ever agreed to something like a footbridge and then make such a good job of the whole project. Quality and not just cheap “make do”.
Got to hand it to SDC, and I’v been a big critic in the past.
 
Just watched the video. Cracking stuff. I’m assuming that the blue supporting columns are temporary. When all of the deck is in place it will be removed?

There, will the 4 sections of deck work with each other and the concrete columns to keep it up? In my minds eye I can’t see how it works.

I think Patrick Melia is the best thing to happen to Sunderland in a very long time.

I obviously know nothing about bridges but its hard to see how it'll take another whole year to complete.
Iirc the yellow crane now gets dismantled and taken across to the other side to lift the south sections in place, then the centre section is lifted in last. All the deck will then have to be built etc as these are hollow sections, so can see how theres still a year to go.
