Kebab wraps

Most of the doner meat I have seen on the spot in the NE over the last 30 years has been the industrial minced up crap. It does taste ok sometimes but is real rubbish.
Proper doner made from slivers of real meat is a meal fit for any time of the day. In Turkey , You usual only get 2 ounces of meat and the rest is fresh salad. Too be honest. That is enough.
I would never buy the processed meat kebabs.

And if the establishment use a shaver they are best avoided too.

Lamb and veal mix is the buyo

I used to do a radio programme in Hull back in early 90’s on Universal FM. A right cowboy thing. We did an article on kebabs. ( Hull had a chain called Falcons Kebabs who reared his own sheep for the doner) at night he would have a photo of a sheep saying “ tonight you are eating Bessie who won best sheep at Filey 1991” . it was true and the kebabs were amazing. Anyway , one day on the programme Someone called to say Falcons had got the electric razor ! That night on inspection they had got one . The skill
And the novelty was gone ! Sad to say so has Falcons.

As you say veal and lamb can be. A traditional mix. Where do you go ?

I live in Copenhagen and there is plenty of choice. Killer Kebab is the current champion, but a there are many other great and traditional places due to the many Turkish workers who came here in the 60es/70es.

The yearly competition (mystery shoppers from a major newspaper) always gets a lot of attention.

I love the chili sauce that you get, but I understand that the version served here is actually pretty local to Denmark.

All this typing about kebabs has made me crave one now

I used to love a kebab on a bank holiday evening but for the last three years nobldy has answered the phone so just gave up. No kebab for me for three years, crackers.
what have I just read there

you've missed out on kebabs for three year because you can't get off the old backside there and go to the takeaway

ever heard of summit called justeat there marra?

Just looking up nutritional information of kebab meat cos I was curious. One website reckons 100g (which is probably 1/3 of what you get in a wrap) is 377 calories, with 32g of fat - and probs not the good kinds. No wonder they knack ya.

Still, absolutely lusharoonie on the odd occasion after 9 pints.

More likely the kebab shop he used to use has closed down and he’s relentlessly been calling a dead phone line

Do they serve them with the pizza salad like you get in Sweden? A shredded white cabbage with a vinegary dressing, I don't bother with the salad over here but could eat a tub of the pizza salad on its own.

For those that say they like the salad, Lidl do an amazing pickled white cabbage when they do the German foods.
Surprised it doesn't get served here, cheap and easy to make and a massive improvement on the soggy warm mush we get.

Some places do, but most places don’t. And most often it will be shredded red cabbage instead.
