Based on the ‘two players’ premise we still need eight players - at least !!

Nah, we've got 19 in the first team squad and they're relatively well distributed. Only 4 players on the two players premise - but we shouldn't be aiming for that anyway. Far better to have versatility as it will allow for a more engaged squad.

For clarity I'd want to see another 8 coming in (with probably one or two leaving) but that is about adding quality rather than cover in the vast majority of cases.

I would say midfield is about the only area where we’re “well distributed”.
