Tbf, lots of fans on here took it as gospel and fully blame SD for being a greedy bastard.
Now we don't know the reason why the takeover didn't happen so it's one less thing to slag him off about.
All they've apologised for is being wrong about some bonus payments. He could still very easily have been asking for too much.

My assumption however is that he wanted too much in the way of involvement rather than a pay day, but of course that's purely conjecture on my part.

When someone asked him how his mate PP felt when he found out Donald wouldn't match the 150k Hearts bid he said he went ape-shit. How else does it read?

I agree with you on the rest.

That was me mate, I did directly ask him what his mate PP had said about SAFC not matching the bid and that's what his reply was - for him to walk back the answer after he realised it couldn't have happened looked a bit disingenuous.

u are ducking the issue which means all your other questioning and your plan B nonsense is null and void. Nothing was wrong until it was announced by the fanzines that we were the richest club in the world, no one guesses that stuff so where do u think that story came from? Had it not been for this monumental announcement we would not have endless threads about the owner. Go on enlighten us, how do you think the fanzines got wind of this great news because until this matter is addressed there is no point in discussing anything further.

...he said, on a thread about The Sun apologising for guessing something incorrectly and publishing it.
So when is Donald going to apologise for the lies we have been told?

Possibly when someone is able to show that he has lied?

I think that too tbh. But I also think they want him to help run the club in some way.
After all we all know rich Americans don't always bring success

Fake news is what bothers me,could be my age .Still cant get my head round the shit that concocted a twitsnap or whatever the fuck it was about boyce.Ive seen the odd post still talking as if it is fact.I havnt a clue about social media ,took my daughter ages to get me to text on mobile.Just wish there was something we can do to stop people using it to further agendas

The quotes that contradict each other have been done to death mate, so I have another question for you.

Why do you think so many people who support SAFC believe he's made misleading statements?
What do you think their motives are?
Do you think all of these people are really acting in bad faith?

You keep cracking on about this on thread after thread as if you've caught them out and its nothing more than a diversion.

Just for the record: the fanzines DIDN'T say: "we are in a better position financially to run the club so SD should sell to us".

They said: "we're 15th in Division 3 playing relegation form with a significantly worse team team than the one that failed to win promotion last season - enough is enough".

The notion that "they shouldn't voice their opinion because they can't afford to buy the club" and they're not answering your question is absolutely ludicrous.

Oh so they want to manage the team as well as run the klerb...

Wot about telling the Owner to sell just b4 the transfer winda? How Fookin ludicrous is that?

Hi, Z's D. And thanks for the civil post. They're becoming a rarity on here when discussing the owners. :)

Most of the quotes have been shown to have been bollocks, mate. The only one that hasn't been that I've found so far that is arguably an untruth from SD was the "We gave Short £40m" line in the owners' first press conference, but even then he went on to say "that was the deal" directly afterwards, and we know that "the deal" was renegotiated after they took over when they realised that certain things like the Ndong situation weren't exactly how Short had presented them originally.

I don't think all people who are anti-SD are acting in bad faith, although a few certainly are. Some are just getting the wrong end of the stick and making the "right" conclusion to the wrong information.

Some folks have been reading something that isn't there into a slightly ambiguous statement (or even into a completely non-ambiguous statement but getting carried away with a few words and accidentally ignoring the rest of the paragraph), and then relaying it either on here, Twitter, FB or real life in a slightly reworded form. Like a game of Chinese Whispers.

We've seen it repeatedly with things like "transfer budget that most Championship clubs would be envious of", which was actually "budget that a lot of Championship clubs would take" during an interview where the owners made it clear they were discussing the entire playing budget, not just the transfer budget.

It has happened so many times that now some people aren't even bothering to check whether each new piece of "anti-owners" information they read on here is real before jumping in and slagging them off. Just look at the lad who signed for Hearts the other day. We had 6 pages of "I despise the owners for not paying 150k for him" from a huge number of posters before someone finally pointed out the quote had been COMPLETELY MADE UP, and by a LADS FAN on Twitter no less. And even after it had been pointed out that the entire thing was a work of fiction, you still had poster after poster joining the thread after only reading the OP to say how much the owners are chancers, skint, ruining the club for not paying 150k for this player.

So, yes, there is a little bit of "bad faith" from a handful of people, a bit of misunderstanding from quite a few others, a whole lot of Chinese Whispers, a whole lot of laziness from people not bothering to check things before diving in with their opinion, all leading to what I've been calling the Whirlwind Of Bullshit where a huge number of people are so convinced by the wealth of accusations against the owners that they don't bother fact checking ANY of it at all. After all, there's "no smoke without fire" and who cares if this point or that point aren't true, there are another 30 or 40 in the pile so at least some of it must be true surely?

Unfortunately for the owners, there's very little substance to ANY of the claims that I've managed to uncover so far. Certainly nothing worth hounding out the owners for.

No.
They never said they wanted to run the team.

Just by making stuff up and posting it doesn't make it true.

More broadly, I'm often struck by the meagreness of newspaper apologies. They look like token gestures.

Your words:-

Wot does a fans forum knaa aboot coaching a professional team....

Watch the podcasts where he talks about the parachute money, compare what he said with the reality.

I have done. Twice. More in some cases. If you have a copy of the sale agreement and bank statements from SAFC, Madrox, the owners or Ellis Short to prove whatever actually happened then I'd very much like to see them. SD said £25m was "ringfenced to pay the bank debt" (via Short iirc) and meanwhile they put £25m into the club themselves iirc. Then they renegotiated the payment plan with Short and as far as I understand it, used another £10m of the parachute payments to pay Short then took out a £10m loan themselves (from the Close brothers) and put it into the club to fund the Ndong situation. £35m out of the club (parachute payments), £35m in.

Like I said, if you have a copy of the finances of SAFC, Madrox, the owners and/or Short to show that this is incorrect, I'd very much like to see them.

Ya can just imagine Fylip as Michael Palin handing out the crosses on Life of Brian couldn't ya...

Fyl: Crucifixion?

Donald: Err, no, freedom.

Fyl: What?

Donald: Er, freedom for me. They said I hadn't done anything, so I could go free and live on an island somewhere.

Fyl: Oh well that's jolly good. I've listened to all your other spiel and can't find anything wrong with it so off you go then...

Hilarious.

Whereas even when you've been proven wrong, you still stick to your lies like a toddler that doesn't realise he's been caught lying.
