I have came back from Canada 8 times now mate, its class. Going there is canny too!
I applied for a Perm Resident visa in 2003, got it in 2007, landed as a PR in 2008, got social security number etc. but at the same time house market and Pound crashed, and I landed a job in the UK trebling my wage so never went in the end. In theory I could sneak over the border in a private vehicle, start working for a Canadian company, then after 3 years get my PR renewed (or so I have been told) but that boat has sailed now I think.
If you are under 35 apply for a working holiday visa, which lasts for 2 years, which is much easier then the PR route, My Daugeter has done this

I’ve been and come back, but looking up the thread it seems a pretty common experience.
I came back from Canada once too. Coming back was a bit shit.
From what I’ve read, and trust me I’m no expert, but it looks like you have to have gone there BEFORE you can come back from there.
