Junior Football Referee Shortage

That probably works out at 2pence for every time he was called a ****😜
Don’t know how old you are but there was a referee called Eddie Branagan back in the 80s, who booked a lad for saying it was a mans game, the only booking we got all season and it cost our team the prize of a grands worth of kit

I was once booked for “having fire in my eyes” according to the report.

Apparently, I’d known the ref for about a decade before he did me for that. I once asked the same ref, if he had a sun dial instead of a watch as it was that dark and he wanted to play on

My one sending off in men’s football was a by a ref called Alan Hood. He died in a car crash shortly after and they play for a trophy in his name these days. It’s similar to the champions league trophy in design

When I was coaching I was luckily with a very supportive club, it was made very clear of our policy of respect towards players/coaches /officials before they signed up, all parents signed the policy.
Worst one I saw was someone's Grandad. His bairn was the next Messi and anytime anyone tackled him fairly and won the ball, he was yelling his head off demanding a free kick etc. After one tackle, he came on the pitch and pushed the ref over

The ref sent him off and said he had to watch from the far end of the field. He was standing all by himself still ranting away and waving his arms around
