Judgement day for our model

I feel this next appointment is crucial for their model .
Successful then happy days
Unsuccessful then major questions will be asked from a lot of our fanbase to regarding the direction of this model they are adopting

I would not agree. Since 2021, under the model we have
Got out of league one,
Got in the play offs in the Championship
Sold a player for 10m
Developed a playing squad worth circa 100m
Gained many plaudits for our style of play
Enticed record average home attendances
Academy has progressed

This tells me the model is working especially in light of KLD saying it was a 5 year plan to get to the Prem

All that doesn’t count as soon as there is any bump in the journey 😂

I think you're right, but equally this can't be the apex of our progress, so I think the OP is right in that we need to see the next appointment push us further forward. We're Safc, aiming for the top 2 of the championship should be an absolute minimum requirement tbh. That can be true whilst still acknowledging the good job the ownership has done thus far. Play offs last year, mowbray sacked when we're drifting this. I expect the next head coach to continue the progression either this season or next, and that shouldn't be controversial for our support

Fans can ask whatever questions we want tbh, won’t make a scrap of difference. The owner will make whatever decisions he and his advisors believe suits his business plan, if they get this one wrong they’ll just appoint another one, with no influence or input from us.

Don't think this is right as even if the next coach fails then they will sack and reload as the coach (whoever it is ), will be part of the model. The same goes for Speakman and anybody else running the club, they are all just part of a process.
Hopefully the next coach will succeed in getting us in a position for promotion (think that is the ambition for this season). Mowbray was hired for stability and for that he was a success, but time to move on as he was never going to take us further.

It's not easy to find the household name head coach we'd all like, who's also willing to work within the obvious constraints. Similarly its one thing replacing a league one Charlie Wyke with a highly rated prospect, it's another thing replacing a championship Ross Stewart with the same player profile. Progression is harder the further up the league we go.

Personally, I have my doubts about how far this philosophy will take us without some concessions. If we're going to continue an absolute approach, then we need to be better than the clubs around us trying to do the same but with greater resources. It's naive to think that because we have data modelling and a scouting network that we're better at unearthing gems.

I'm still fully behind it, it is the right approach BTW, we just need to be absolutely shit hot at it. If a 3rd manager falls out with Speakman, and we haven't progressed. Then its time to think about doing things differently.
