Jordan Hunter

Doesn’t make this lad any better
You are correct, Kevin Phillips’ abilities in 1991 have no bearing on Jordan Hunter’s abilities in 2019.

However, the parallel between a player whose abilities were questioned in 1991 and who, as a result, found himself playing in the lower leagues and a player whose abilities are currently being challenged and who is going to go and play for a neighbouring club in a lower league.

Talents can blossom at different stages. I’m not saying that Hunter will go on to be ‘the new Kevin Phillips’. Indeed, there is more of a chance that he won’t. But at this stage in his career, his willingness to drop down several levels to play for South Shields, and thereby gain experience of playing against men, is not a meaningful indicator of what he will be doing in five years time. Actually, it is to his credit.

What happened to Bali Mumba going out on loan? Does nobody want him or is he going to be a deadline day special for a League 2 club

Jack Ross said Bali will be with the U23s till Christmas. He hardly played with them last season apparently, and its still a huge step up for an 18 year old.
I think they are expanding his horizons a bit by playing him at RB; even if he then settles back in as a midfielder, the thought is the defensive side of his game will have improved. He may well be loaned out in Jan.

Maybe he might be back in the first team picture next season.
