Jonny Bairstow

One of my favourites from the Barmy Army, on an early tour of South Africa, a couple of lads were endlessly asking Shaun Pollock, who was fielding in front of them, for an autograph. Eventually he came over to sign their bat, instead of handing him the pen they just said "could you take this with you and ask your uncle to sign it for us?".

Apparently his face was a picture.

If they are saying things about his father. He has showed a great deal of restraint to not take his bat and smack it over whichever Aussie twat said it.

To me this is the "Durham cricket forum". Googled those very words once and up it came, never looked back  I often forget it's predominantly a football forum. I go on the Yorkshire White Rose cricket forum quite a bit but it's nowehere near as busy as this.

there used to be a forum on the durham cricket site but @brandon broke it iirc

  1. just been reading Bob Willis on the sky sports app.
he is saying that a lot of personal abuse is being targeted on Bairstow

not just that head butt carry on, but really personal stuff

now what could that be? Willis is calling for the umpires to start stepping in and iirc, is there not a new card system brought in, just this October?

as for this personal abuse, if it's related to you know what, i think England have grounds to pull out of the series

on the flip side of this, not sure if you heard this already but apparently bairstow was approached in some bar, or restaurant or some such by an aussie fan who said he had something for him. produced a pair of batting gloves signed by jonny's dar on a previous tour. very touching gesture that

Merv the perv if i think rightly

Nah it was Greg Thomas.

Merv had some decent ones. Miandad kept calling him a fat bus conductor and he shouted 'tickets please' when he took his wicket

Convict twats - thats very much uncalled for. As already said sledging is a subtle art but being personal is a kernts trick imo.

I think people that are implying it are the utter kernts tbh. Nothing to suggest it has been and if it had there is no way Bairstow would have kept quiet about it.

Anyway two more on a cheerier note:

McGrath: “Why are you so fat?”

Brandes “Because every time I fuck your wife, she gives me a biscuit.”

and

Ranatunga asks for a runner to which Healy relies:

"You get a runner if you are injured not for being an unfit fat kernt"

We're much better crack aswell marra aren't we ;)
Aye no question you are pal! There are some proper miserable sods on there like. I mean proper miserable with no sense of humour, making sarcy, comments if they disagree. I don't post on there much tbh.

Casual racism from the convict crowd now.

The SMB football site is one of the busiest around too iirc. I think it's partly that other well supported clubs tend to have several fan sites whereas SAFC only has this one. (Might be wrong like)

Jonathan Liew from the independent said that a number of people know what was said but Bairstow doesn’t want to go into details

I think he meant the fact that I quoted @brandon and started talking about miserable sods

But carry on making sweeping generalisations about Yorkshire folk yourself.

that'll be why he highlighted the word convict?

also i really can't believe that my comment went over your head, obviously touched a nerve ;):lol:

Fair enough it did cross my mind that there may have been a hint of irony there but it's impossible to tell on an internet forum. Those daft yeller faces seem to be the way forward with that.

Tbh it did touch a nerve a little bit but only because there are so many classless ***** down here and I hate being lumped in with them. Heard a lot of shit like the convicts' comments to Mo on the field in club cricket and in the clubhouse but thankfully never as a spectator at Headingley.

Just for the record. What I meant was that in a 7 word reply accusing a nation of 'casual racism' you managed to commit exactly the same crime as what you accused them off. I wasn't sure if you did it on purpose for the crack or not?

Can't bring myself to call them anything else but "convicts" during an Ashes series tbh. Sorry.
