Joint Bank Accounts

We have our own accounts but we pay £1000 each into joint account to cover the bills and just let the excess build up, the rest we keep in own accounts for whatever we want to spend it on

We use one for gas and electric bills, council tax, water, etc.

I thought this was standard for any couple? Would be a mess trying to pay separate from our own accounts.
Never really been an issue . I pay gas and electric.. she pays council tax etc..

If one of us is short in an account one month then draw from savings or transfer money between accounts...

What's mine is ours and what's hers is hers

Not really.. we have never had any issues ... It's all in the same.pot at the end of the day just sitting in different accounts

Yep, we have had joint accounts since we got together, everything goes into it, we just take as we wish, never an issue. We have a credit card and a PayPal account each so we can buy each other presents (or porn to satisfy some on here :)) etc. Works perfectly, we are in this together, always have been and I hope we always will be.

I get why some don't but I would never say either way was weird, it's what every works for you as a couple. As long as the way you deal with finances makes you both happy who cares.

They are fine as long as you have a secret divorce fund.

I’m not joking. I learnt this the hard way.

Love is a many splendored thing but often it is not forever despite what we would wish.

A fighting fund can help ease the transition.
