Johnson post Match

I think his analysis was reasonable, albeit like every manager he looks through rose tinted glasses.

In my eyes far too much can be made of the LJ v. Parky stats. Parky never had a successful run like the one we've just had, his "tactics" were just safety first, and his interviews were in the main toe-curling. At least LJ is articulate (although whether you accept what he says is another matter).

As for the squad, LJ was not put in funds to do more than tinker with it and it will be interesting to see what he puts together next season (regardless of the division we are in). The current crew are has beens, never will bes, flatterers to deceive, some decent young players and a few outright donkeys. It would take a magician to get them to play consistently well.

In reality we are two post season games from promotion and things may not be as black as they look now.
He did though. Something like 32 points in 13 games IIRC (maybe 29 in 12)

Think you'll find he had an almost identical run just after Christmas as Johnson did. Over the good 15 game run Johnson just had he got 32 points, Parkinson managed 31 over the same amount of games at roughly the same time a year ago. His run just started and finished slightly earlier.

Edit: we also had 21 points after 10 games this season

I think if the powers that be are thinking we will get rid at the end of the season anyway, we may as well do it now and it could give us that lift before the play offs because right now there is no way this man is motivating these players to win anything

Something is going on behind the scenes with the whole Maguire not playing thing and some of those players today just not seeming to want it enough !!!
Maguire fuck me, people genuinely think he’s the answer to the problem.
there are a core of players there that have ballsed up three promotions in great positions each time . Power, Wyke, O nien, Gooch, mcgeady even, three different managers so who’s the biggest problem??
Would anyone really shed a tear if
Any of them went.
Jury still out on Johnson for me but with new owners who it’s obvious were happy with Johnson appointment. Recruitment team in place, new wealthy owner we have to give Him pre season to put together his squad.
people need to get real there won’t be cue if top managers waiting to manage us give the man a proper chance

In that case, I think we’re snookered
Point taken - what I meant was he never took the support with him the way Johnson did (though that seems a long time ago now!)

He didn’t. And I don’t understand why Johnson has been afforded that luxury when Parkinson wasn’t.

I suspect it’s because Johnson is a little perkier than his predecessor and isn’t seen as Donald’s man. In terms of performance and results, it’s negligible differences so far.

Which is probably why the sack him crew are shy about naming potential replacements.

I hope KLD ripped him a new one and the whole side today.
The players on the pitch and the manager is to blame for the ineptitude shown in the last 7 games.
Not one of these players should be expecting to play for Sunderland next season. They look bereft of ideas and look better suited to the Sunday league.
I’d play an academy side on Saturday and drop the lot of them. At least we will have desire and passion.

Agree with most of this especially with Johnson needing a summer to build his own side regardless of what division we're in.

Slightly harsh on the players listed and I'd argue it's the ones outside of them that have cost us rather than those specifically. You can argue with some of them, but even if we take Power for example. He's never going to be the creative CM we need, he could probably play alongside one and look competent (you could probably argue about that about the rest of our midfielders, they're all much of a muchness. Then you've got Wyke who's only really contributed this season.

If I had to pick positions we've lacked in this season, I'd say LB and GK have been a weak link (not too mention only having one half fit proper CB), combined with the above midfielders all being too similar, and therefore as a group lacking.

I can't watch it and it's nothing personal against LJ

I've just had enough after what seems like an eternity of watching utterly shite football (including most of the time we we in the PL) perpetual disappointment and manager after manager talking complete bollocks as if we haven't got eyes in our heads

We know the script now - we'll end up in the play offs, get to the final and fail again

Repeat next season

You would think he’d learn from his own post-mortems. Sadly not.

In terms of playing staff I doubt we'll see a definitive answer on that one before the retained/offered contract list is published. I can understand a gaffer being reluctant to write off nigh on an entire squad on the basis of a handful of games mind.

I haven't watched any of the recent games and stayed clear of PF, so my question is what do folk propose as any sort of solution to current form?

I never said he was the answer to any problem, i simply said that something is going on behind the scenes that is affecting morale etc and he is part of it again !!!

Yes give him a chance i agree, however sometimes a manager can become a dead man walking so better to get rid early and give us that boost for the play offs than go into them in this state

Dear Lee. We had more than a good enough side to get out this league automatically. We just need to play the best side we have. I don’t want to hear “Blackpool are a good side” they put together a make shift squad, we loaned them one of our first team players, so stop with the bullshit, never mind drinking plenty of water etc, get all the bottling fuckers in early doors, have a meeting, let everyone air their views, give them a f***ing rocket up their arses and secure the playoffs on Saturday, then maybe rest some players against Northampton.
