Will stop short of criticising him but I certainly don’t hold too positive an opinion of him. I don’t really hold any positive opinions on players in the latter tenure of Short’s era, obviously there are exceptions - JD, JP etc,
See I don't get that. The failings of the club went far beyond the playing staff. For all his faults JOS never gave anything less than his all.

This also applies to our current CB's....the fact they aren't the best isn't their fault and getting on their backs isn't going to help them.

I get the impression that O’Shea isn’t one for the spotlight, even as captain for us his media work was quite low key.

I could be wrong but I reckon he’ll take a low key coaching job.

Or becomes our manager when Ross gets the bullet!
I think we have a stereotypical view on who would and wouldn't be a manager and often it's completely wrong. I genuinely wouldn't write anyone off who goes into management

JO’S is a player that will always divide opinions amongst SAFC supporters.

There are quite strong views either aide of the scale too. We could debate this all day and neither side of the argument will ever persuade the other of their viewpoint.

I do wish him all the very best in his retirement.

That home game against Villa, the 0-4 loss he never mind, the players wanted Poyet sacked. I just perceive him as the face of failure, rightly or wrongly which sounds paradoxical given all he won at United but seeing his name on the team sheet became dispiriting in the end.

I'm sure Reading as a club and it's fans aren't exactly over the moon that JOS couldn't get a game for a team that looks likely to finish 5th or 6th bottom. That's where the finished last year too, no improvement at all.
its an improvement on where he finsihed with us..i doubt reading were stupid enough to sign a 37 year old to be a first team regular..

It's oft the ones that were the best professionals that are derided on here by the same folk who think the sun shines out of George Honeyman's arse.

He also played in a lot of SAFC sides that stayed up.

You think Luke O'Nien is a good right back though. I'm not sure you're qualified to make that call.

I'm no better qualified than you but I still have an opinion.

I think as a player he has improved this season. His first touch is better and his decision making is good. His cross for Wyke at the weekend was excellent and he's also scored a few goals. He's good in the air, good engine and never gives up. He has a lot of good traits. For a kid who was playing in league 2 last season he's done OK and is good enough for the level we are playing at.

You mean that game where two of our most seasoned pros, Wes Brown and John O'Shea were left woefully exposed by the likes of Liam Bridcutt, Ricky Alvarez (who the crowd had been demanding to play), PVA, Reveillere and Jack fuckin' Rodwell???
