John O’Shea

Christ he was absolutely shite in the end, but our transfer business was so bad that over 5 seasons of decline, we weren’t able to replace him.

Seemed like a nice enough bloke, but when you look at Xhaka you see what an ineffectual nothing of a leader O'Shea was. Clearly never had control of the dressing room as a captain and the rotten apples ran roughshod. Club was a basket case though with the turnover of management and players so I'm probably being a bit harsh.

Still remember the 2011/2012-transfer summet with a lot of excitement. Some proven Man Utd-defenders, young prospects and some unknown foreign players

John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Seb Larsson, Gardner, Lord Bendtner, Ji, Wickham, Elmo. Who did I forgot? Did Dave Vaughnan and James McClean arrive that summer too?

Was a real coup when we signed him and showed we had some intent to push on, unfortunately a lot of bad decisions were made after that both in signings and constantly changing managers. He was past it by the time we went down twice but we didn't replace him and leave him to lead from the sidelines.
