John Mensah

I have to say I thought Brown was good for us (and O'Shea) although I seemed to be very much in the minority at the time.

Poiint was not how many games Mensah played or for how many mins but the quality he brought when he played. He played for loads of clubs and fitness seemed to be an issue but he was quality.

Brown was mostly good but was prone to real howlers moreso than Mensah.

I remember Mensah and Da Silva versus Arsenal, who were on a big unbeaten run and knocking them in for fun.
Don´t think they even got a shot on target. They could have played all day and not scored.
Mensah had his injury problems, and Da Silva was not the best at dealing with your typical English CF, but the pair of them had great technique.

I reckon we went through a period from Keane till the end of Bruce, where the majority of our centre backs were good to great. Streaky form was the problem, I remember great performances from Bramble, Turner, Ferdinand, Mensah, Da Silva, Collins, Brown and O'Shea. During that period we decided not to sign a left back IIRC. Can only remember Elmo and Bardo at right back. We could've really built something.
